Firstly a big thank you to everyone who has helped out. For this past week, we have had our revamped Survival Games up and running as a 'beta' for everyone to test out and give feedback. This feedback has resulted in a lot of changes and fixes to our backend over this past week.

Today I am proud to announce that we have taken our first revamped minigame (Survival Games) out of beta! This revamped Survival Games is currently live, and we plan to continue adding changes and fixes whilst we move forward! The purpose of the beta was to find the main issues (which it had successfully done) so that we can feel confident running a more stable version of the final product.

Of course it does not end here. More changes and fixes will continue to be applied to Survival Games in the near future! This is also the first of many minigames to be revamped. The first minigame was always going to be the most difficult, as it was inevitible to encounter all teething problems of our revamped backend. As writing this, we are currently hard at work on our next minigame (Capture The Flag) which players can expect to see released in the very near future! A more detailed announcement regarding Capture The Flag will be posted at a future date.

For those players interested: I have gone ahead and posted a huge changelog detailing all of the major changes which players can expect to see with this revamp. This changelog can be viewed Here. Do note that this changelog does not cover every minor detail (due to the sheer amount that has changed). We look forward to the exciting times ahead! As always, enjoy.

Another month has now passed, which brings our current season of Factions to an end. Congratulations to all the winners, I will be contacting you over this weekend via Discord to sort out your prizes. Whilst we get everything in place for the upcoming season of Factions, we will be having 1 week of downtime like always (no one will be able to join Factions during this period).

Season 34 Information:
Next season of Factions will be our 34th Season. The season is scheduled to launch on Friday 21st May 3pm MST. A live countdown for the reset can be viewed Here. The live countdown will also convert the reset time to your timezone to assist with planning! As discussed in our last announcement, a few changes will be taking place this following season (the removal of payouts) to ensure we are respectul of the EULA which is laid out by Mojang. For more information, please refer to this thread Here.

Upcoming Changes:
Due to the fast reset rate of Factions, we will not be bringing forward any drastic changes in terms of new content (we will be reserving this aside for our future seasons). Our main focus for Season 34 is to polish up on things that we feel could have been improved in our latest season. A full list of changes and fixes which players can expect to see next season will be posted later this week in a changelog.

MCCentral Factions Discord:

As many of you know, the Minecraft EULA has been in and out of light these past few years. For those who do not know, the EULA is a set of rules from Mojang which define what Minecraft servers are allowed and not allowed to do.

A lot of servers including ourselves have been in close communication with Mojang over the past couple of years. Originally when the EULA was first introduced, it only allowed servers to sell cosmetics (which was not a viable option for many servers to remain online). In April 2020, the EULA was once again updated, meaning that selling ‘P2W’ items is only disallowed if the server is considered ‘competitive’.

Many servers including MCC have been blacklisted by Mojang, but were able to get around this blacklist by using a different DNS record known as ‘SRV’. In the latest Java Edition 1.17 snapshot, this blacklist bypass has been patched!

Since the original implementation of the EULA, all of our network has been transitioning towards casual gameplay, with the final piece being factions (made competitive by the nature of the payouts involved with winning).

Today I am announcing that we will no longer be releasing any new seasons of Factions with any such prizes or payouts. Our Factions server will be transitioning into casual gameplay to ensure we are compliant with the EULA and so that we can proceed to be unblacklisted to ensure that we have a safe future moving forwards with Minecraft Central!
