Today, I voted for the servers from my phone instead of my computer and when I opened Vote link #4, I did a typo in my name and before I knew it, I tapped 'Vote'. I refreshed the page, made sure my name was correct and voted again. However, when I checked my votes on the page, it showed I only had 47 instead of 48. It turns out Vote link #4 looks at your IP, not your username, meaning I won't be able to vote again until today and lose one vote. Is there a way to get my vote back or may it rest in peace?
Hey Idesite, While you're not wrong about the site looking at your IP, it also looks at your username. Meaning if you had a brother and they voted for the server, you can't vote for it because they used the same IP (if they live with you.) The only way I see that you can get the vote is if you vote from your phone but on mobile data like Rimple said or if you used mobile data to vote then vote on your computer/laptop on house wifi.
That's genius and definitely sounds like something that could work! Unfortunately, it didn't and that just makes sad. Anyway, thank you for your response, it's much appreciated.
Thank you for your condolence, it helps me through these dark times. Can you tell me how can I report this and if there's a person that might be able to help I can contact? Even if they can't help, I still want to give it a try as my last resort.
Here is the link that you can use and you may be able to get your vote added back manually by a high staff member. https://mccentral.org/community/forums/bugs/ Thank you. Hope this helps.
I guess I can see where the IP monitoring comes from and how the voting system would be abused without it. I just wish there was a way to detect the validity of the usernames because frankly, I highly doubt the mistyped username even exist. As for changing my IP, it's depressing that it doesn't work. Thank for your reply!
There are hundreds of millions of Minecraft accounts and with the recent growth comes even more than that. Anything can be a name. They don't necessarily check if the name that you put existed, they check if the name that you put has already voted or not. And if the name hasn't voted, has the IP been used or the opposite. It's not the most efficient way but it works, I guess.
