I suggest updating to a newer mc version like 1.16 becuse:
It is made (more) stable again for servers

there are plugins to get older combat to newer versions

the new features in 1.16 will bring a new nether dimension so you can maybe have an overworld skybase and in the nether one, I think that would be really cool

also new weapons like crossbows and tridents would at something to the pvp, and you could make an elytra parkour

    Hey!

Creative and Survival are actually already running as 1.12 (Hence why joining on lower version clients can be buggy)
This is why it won't be a good idea to make the entire network 1.16. Not everyone likes playing on 1.16 and joining on lower versioned clients makes the game extremely buggy and unplayable. Also, our 1.8 plugins were based on 1.8, upgrading to 1.16 will require a lot of re-coding and adding compatibility for 1.16. As for the PvP, the plugins that alter 1.9+ PvP are still "glitchy" and it won't be the same as 1.8; this will greatly upset KitPvP, Factions, and Prison players.

Overall, I have to disagree with this. We already have 2 sub-servers running on 1.12.

Likewise, building upon what xBenz said; newer version of Minecraft (1.13+) have terrible performance.
Whilst we can currently support 200-300 players online with almost no lag; upgrading to 1.13+ would result in unplayable lag when there is as little as 20 players online.
It is for this reason, that MCC will not be updating past 1.12 any times soon.

I'd love to see Skyblocks run 1.12 though! I just know that hopping between 1.8.9 and 1.12 can be annoying for players, so that probably won't happen.

I think that staying at 1.8 for servers with PvP involvement (e.g. KitPvP, Factions and Prison) is definitely the best way to go.
As a Prison player, I really don't fancy the idea of a 1.16 Prison - PvP would be so laggy that it would be nearly impossible to move.
Also, as KierenBoal and xBenz have said, lower versioned clients on 1.16 are unplayable, and the lag with 1.16 would be impossibly bad for a server like MCC with a minimum of about 1000 players on at any one time (even Creative has some lag issues occasionally, and the average there with 1.12 is about 20 players).

Yes, the 'newer' features such as elytra, the Nether Update, and crossbows and tridents would be cool, but the trade-off is having an unplayable server.

Interesting idea, but not feasible at this time.

    Hi!

I think that staying at 1.8 is good and bad. For example, in skyblock, if your farming netherwart from the side, and you are in 1.8, you have to aim your harvest hoe lower than normal. However, in 1.10, if you hit the netherwart anywhere, it will break. But in 1.10 for fighting (Kit PVP, Factions, Arena PVP, etc.) if you try to eat, you might accidentally hold up a shield. If there was an update, I, along with many other players on the server, would not want it in 1.15+, because of Observers. If observers were in the game, you could have auto melon, pumpkin, sugar cane, etc. farms and then it wouldnt be hard to get money at all.

If there was an update, I would say update the whole server to 1.12, remove shields, and add a 1.8 fighting style plugin

    Thanks!
