Introduction/Inspiration Before I say anything I'd like to admit this thread was inspired by lieger's "the issue with the mc-central forums" video. However in this thread I'd like to expand on why I personally think the mc-central forums is a bit of a meme by itselfand why I'm 100% sure this thread won't change a single thing. Some of these complaints are about the suggestion forums while others are about the forums overall The threads that are made Okay so I'm just going to put this bluntly: an insane amount of threads that are made on the forums are stupid. Now I'm going to seperate 3 types of "stupid" threads here, duplicated threads troll threads and as I'm going to call them "do-your-damn-research threads" This problem is hardly solveable but I still want to point it out. Firstly, dupe threads. Dupe threads are threads with suggestions that have literally already been suggested multiple times. I'm getting real tired of seeing people suggest an anticheat when literally 20+ people have already made that exact thread. Another example would be removal/modification of explosive arrows on skywars. For the love of god, please when you make a thread, check if someone has made it before you and if you still want to make it atleast expand on it. Then we have troll threads. Now there's obviously a rule that you're not supposed to make "useless threads" A blatant example of this are the countless threads (and I hate to bring this up) that were made about pedophilia. I don't mean all the threads, just the troll ones. I get you might think mc-central is a meme, the anticheat is a meme and the whole forum system is a meme. yet by making these threads do people not realise they're part of the problem? I would like to point it this is one of the smaller issues with the forums but I still wanted to point this out as it's basicly the whole "oh the anticheat is garbage and I want them to fix it so im gonna start hacking on alts" situation all over again. Lastly I see a lot fo threads where the suggestion is clearly not going to get implemented even if the forums had a use.(more on this later) By this I mean people asking for a suggestion that would be extremely timeconsuming to implement, or a suggestion the majority of the people are against. though the latter can be fixed by creating a "poll like" thread which I admit, some people already use. But would love to see an increase in this. Added later: Also getting real tired of people coming into the forums biased because of events that occured ingame or whatever. The people who use the forums Going to be completely honest here from own experiences. A big chunk of forum users are people going for staff. Literally the only reason they comment on posts/create threads is because they want to increase their post counter in order to increase their chances of getting staff. After their application gets accepted/denied I feel like a majority of them just don't bother with the forums after that. Ofcourse this isn't everyone and surely some staff still use the forums replying to threads etc. This leads to some very nice copy/paste responses everyone has heard time and time again. Granted it makes the forums more alive but is that really for the better when half of the stuff people say is only to look good to the staff team? The influence of the forums This might be the most shaky part of this thread, you've been warned. Going to be completely honest here from my own experiences: if you suggest something on the forums, it 99% of the time won't get added, even if it's a good suggestion. Proof of this is the big amount of dupe threads I mentioned earlier. If literally 90% of the community thinks something is a good idea, and said idea isn't too much of a hassle to implement. Then why does it not get added? I feel like it doesn't even get considered. even if mc-central isn't going to fix their anticheat (I've given up hope on that long ago), I see many good quality of life updates such as being able to use /p instead of /party, being able to toggle explosive arrows etc. It's such a shame because I often see mc-central staff complimenting said ideas but it just seems like nothing gets done with it. Ofcourse I'm not part of the staff team and I know jack about reality but as an "outsider" it really comes over as if the forums are cosmetic for people to make it feel like they've got a voice in future updates when in reality they don't. Which to me atleast seems pretty awful and it's also the reason this thread probably won't change a thing. Ending + small side note One thing I like to add is that it's not all bad. Big fan of the giveaway section of the forums and I sometimes see some genuinely good discussions going on. It's just for me the bad overshadows the good at this point.
Honestly, I agree with all of your points. Really does feel wholesome every so often with giveaways or just a nice post thanking the staff team.
I agree with most but there’s somethings I don’t agree with I’m a fairly active player at forums, I don’t do it to apply for a staff, not only me, most players. A lot of players do it just because it’s fun. And about the suggestions, it’s realy about the popularity of the thread and how many comments it gets then staff pay attention to it. I do think the mcc staff system should change but I don’t see it coming, only admins can make those small changes and most are time consuming. and admins are a small busy group so no wonder none adds things. I don’t realy see the point of this thread to be honest, it’s just complaining of things that none is going to change.
Thanks for the input/criticism. One thing though, while I agree that most likely nothing is going to change, my main complaint was that that's basicly the case for most threads on here suggesting things. According to that logic all suggestion threads should be removed. Also I didn't make this expecting a change but I do think it might be a nice topic of discussion so I wouldn't call it a useless thread.
hi MerrrOowww as someone who prolly been on both sides of giving copy pasted macro answers, troll posts that give no purpose or useful input, and some suggestions, i can understand the points you made. as someone who has made suggestions for users to recreate those suggestions a week later and having their threads get more feedback than mine, i can also get how it’s kinda annoying to see the same suggestions reposted a lot. especially when a staff sweat makes one, and then they get their staff sweat buddies to +1 it all and they have little gay moments kissing each others’s bootys. also with minigame revamp posts, if i has to guess i’d prolly guess there’s bout 50+ minigame posts that imply or straight up suggest a revamp/changes- then someone says some bs like “there’s a minigame revamp soon pls be patient” (like, lowkey no one asked, they just wanna suggest a way for minigames to not be as. much if a joke). and also “/report” this one was more popular last year and have dialed down by now i still see a few. as someone who has done the troll posts, more so in offtopic and general discussions, i'd have to say these are fun to do especially when they're so useless and you don't get a warn point;). as someone who has done, and occasionally still does, the support-related posts that usually look like some copy paste macro- i can see why it's annoying for others to look at and just immediately start bad mouthing, and also seen some the drama when a pre staff starts telling you off in dms how you "stole their post", or even people saying how "theres no skill those are just copy pastes".. speaking for just me, when i see posts i try to only respond to ones i think i can help in, if its ones where its vpn n whatnot i just spam tag senior mods and put it in support. personally, i think pre staff that post on those posts are looking for ways to boost their #s. shade aside, i think people use the support forums as a way to receive help since they might not know about the discord, or tried on discord and got ignored, or maybe thought a post would be more suitable as theres multiple points/bits of evidence they might want to include rather than just putting it in a disc channel (essentially a chat room) whereas forums is a slight bit more formal for things to be seen and looked at. to add on a lil to your points, i feel there have been times where pre staffs and helpers use forums to kiss admin booty (no names ). however, i don’t think this can be said about all of forums it’s a small chunk out of the thousands of forums members.. as seen in forum stats below: for the pre staff who use forums to gain some +1s on helper apps, forums helps apps team grasp a small 'mount of their knowledge. i say small mount since, as already mentioned in lieger's post & a lil bit in the beginning of my reply, a lot of support threads end up being copy paste macros or at least having that appearance. a while back when i used to be tryharding for that pink tag like a clown, i had a convo with who is now an ex apps team member and we kinda talked about support forums and that people applying should "avoid mainly replying to suggestion threads" which in my opinion i feel is so off. it's misleading, suggestion posts can give apps team a sense of your mcc knowledge just as much as a copypast support thread. i don't think i could pick an example off the top of my head, but i know someone who is now a moderator who was denied once for lack of forums posts due to most of them being simple "i agree +1s" (obviously with some more, bbut thats kinda the jist) before they got staff compared to another staff who is moderator now, i remember them having v few posts in support disccusion, but being able to showcase their knowledge by -1'ing suggestions which showcased their knowledge on the subject of the suggestion and being able to identify the flaws it can cause mcc in the future.. which i believe is better than some copy paste " hello! forums really isn’t the place to talk about punishments. if you believe you were falsely punished, you can appeal here". as a conclusion to the pre staff\forums\+1s\kissingbooty\macros\etc. i still believe forums is a good way for pre staff to showcase their mcc knowledge but also forums posts or even reports aren't a huge make or break on a helper application unless one were to have a pattern of immature posts (swearing, not being helpful or contribute much to the thread), or a big ratio gap in denied to accepted player forum reports. im not sure why people make a big deal about forums especially since some of the more popular minimods/staff sweats are also kiss Arses to the staff and posts really wouldn't be that big of a deal. anyways.. i kinda got off topic some thing i don’t think i really agree with on your post is how things that are suggested dont get added. while in small scale this is true; however, i have seen things that are suggested by users and then them being implemented or at least mentioned in kierens mega threads. a few examples i have seen this is prison and factions and a little bit in survival (but unfortunately, survival is kind of a lost cause sometimes). for factions, as many may already know, factions has suggestion bot in the discord and a lot of users are more active their then forums.. while fac seasons were 2 months rather than 1, there usually was more added each season, but i had noticed some the things that were suggested through the bot were implemented in a way. for prison, i had suggested adding quests a while ago back when it was still season 6 (sometime around that) i had suggested adding quests and when kierens season 7 mega thread (the post before season7, but planning for 7.0) he had mentioned adding a quest, unfortunately, it wasnt added but i noticed it was re introduced in this season8 post (post before season8, but planning for 8.0). another thing is also like 8months after my quests post another user had made a very similar post to it, another bit of proof proving your point of duped suggested being true. anyways. in az's survival season8 mega post (before season8, but planning for 8.0) he had gathered a lot of community suggestions from release of season7 to then and put them into a post.. although season8 is not out yet, i do believe that some of those things will be added. for suggestions i've seen that suggest pocket pals, i feel thats kinda a big brain moment that those wouldn't get added.. in my opinion i dont see a use for pocketpals as they're not even accurate for combat timers (which is also a reoccurring post that staff sweats seem to love posting 10times a month about <- over exaggeration) and don't always look right since people use custom texture packs which discolors the blocks and such used in them, and theyre a pain to build with since they all get in your way.. anyways, to kinda wrap this up.. i agree forums gets a lil brain dead and theres more clown moments in mcc's forums than the circus, but it's not like much can or will change.. staff sweats will continue their ways and give robot pasted responses and a lot of suggestions will probably just get re suggested over and over again. i think a way to manage that is to make some forums rule, but then that also runs into mcc's rep where staff kinda punish for small things and gives community more reason to kinda diss on staff when they couldn't even have control over the rules blah blah ANwyayss HAve A GreAt Day :D
