Well then, let's break down your original post. There are plenty of places online to discuss racism and discrimination. If you mean specifically in this community, then you're the only person (so far) that I've seen complaining about this issue. Racist people get muted. If, for some reason, they're refusing to mute people saying racist things in a certain way, then there's probably good reason for that. If they didn't care, there would be no rule against it in the first place. Unsurprisingly, trying to spread your highly politicized message with a community of Minecraft players (the majority of whom are children, and will thus be immature by nature) didn't go down well. People don't play video games to have your message, no matter how just or fantastic you think it is, shoved down their throats. No one would know, or probably even notice, without the advent of this thread, that your skin was black. Even other supporters of your cause. Trying to imply that changing your Minecraft skin could in any way put you in the mentality or 'shoes' of a black person is... at best wrong, and at worst incredibly offensive. Imagine me saying "I changed my skin to a jewish prisoner of war so that I could better understand how they felt in the camps.' That would be incredibly racist and disrespectful. There's little difference here. 1. I don't think any (sound-of-mind) person on this planet (possibly others, too) would feel insulted because you're using a Minecraft skin to essentially blackface. 2. The overwhelming majority of the players on MCC are white males. Without a doubt. Heck, the overwhelming majority of active Minecraft players in 2020 are most likely white males. With no racist intent, I could safely say that 2% or less of the community is composed of people of African decent. The chance that an African-American person would respond to this thread, let alone even see it, is so incredibly slim. 3. Makes perfect sense. 4. You have no say in what other people deem a 'good' response. Let's say, hypothetically, that someone had lost a family member to the BLM movement, and felt the need to respond in a negative manner over this thread - would that be a 'waste of time' response? There is a lot going on in the world. Regardless of which side of the argument you fall on - the MCC Minecraft server is not, and has never been a mating ground for racism. If you truly, truly believe that the server is so incredibly racist, and that you cannot reform any of the players or staff, no matter how hard you try to push your message onto them - then you're welcome to play on another server that fits your requirements. The majority of the players aren't interested in hearing what you, or anyone else has to say on the matter. They're interested in mining blocks, playing minigames, and having fun.
Okay, I guess I understood your points, so I hope you can understand mine as well. When I made the thread I was almost sleeping, so I might have made some mistakes and not made it clear to explain my point of view. Yeah, I agree that not everyone here is able to talk and discuss this topic. Some players just want to have fun. I still disagree that you think people that are being racist always get muted, but anyways... When I said that I was trying to put myself into their skin, I obviously meant IN-GAME. I haven't made myself clear, so I'm sorry about that. I have already saw some people receiving racists insults just cause they have a black skin. That's why I tought changing my skin would make me feel more able to understand what they been trough. About wasting time or not having a good response I meant to say people that just reply to say bad things. People that would comment something like "nobody cares about black people" or "fu** black people, they shouldn't play on this server"; that's what I meant. If someone has good arguments, even tho they disagree with my opinion (like your case), you are welcome to reply to this thread. Feel free to message me on discord to talk if you wish, cause I think this thread will be locked soon "to prevent drama". JoaoOssucci#3191
