I really dislike the mute system. If you get muted you are not allowed to respond to messages and you cant even talk in faction chat. There is no way to communicate its way to harsh imo

This is the exact reason for the mute system that is currently in place - if a player breaks a chat-related rule, they should not have the ability to use any form of the in-game chat as they could simply continue breaking the same rule. For example, disrespect/harassment is against the rules in /msg (if a player reports it), so if a player was muted for this but still had access to use /msg, they could keep disrespecting others this way.

Additionally, the tiered severity system makes it so that first offenses are not too drastic of a punishment - a first-time Severity 1 mute is only 30 minutes, for example. This means that if a player was unaware of the rules and thus got muted, this short mute time is not the end of the world and they have a gentle reminder to review the rules before being able to use the chat again.

    Hey,

The whole point of having the mute system is so that players are punished for committing a offense that is against the rules, so they learn a lesson so to speak. As said above, players should have learned from their mistakes after the first or second mute. The more times the player keeps committing a offense based on the severity then the longer they will be punished for. For example, severity 2 mutes can get as long as 14 days. Overall, I personally don’t think the mute system is too harsh as it’s here to maintain some sort of order.

Howdy bro. I am sorry to tell you that is how it works on this server, and possibly other big servers, and I have been muted for a lot of things, and they can get pretty crazy (My highest is 7 days). You can appeal it if you really think you didn't do anything bad, but my best bet is to get discord, and msg people there, or get on a plot and use signs to communicate. That is my best advice, hope I was able to help.

The rules are not specefic enough i feel like staff pick and choose who they want to mute I got muted in factions for "spamming" even though the person that messaged me spammed first I went to staff about this and they didnt do anything about it. The staff that muted me was coincidentally in the same faction as the person who reported me. also if someone messages me something i should be able to /r and respond to that message like other servers allow you to do that. Also faction chat is a must or else you cant communicate with your team unless you have discord

There are existing systems in place to address these issues, and this does not constitute an overhaul of the entire mute system. Namely, you may Report Players who you believe are breaking the rules, Appeal a punishment/request evidence, and Report Staff members if you feel that they are incorrectly utilizing their role and/or breaking any rules. Additionally, just because another player breaks a rule does not mean that it's alright for you to do so as well. If you are being spammed, disrespected, etc. in /msg, it's best to report the player and /ignore rather than retaliate.

Got muted for 6 months... learned my lesson :disrelieved::disrelieved::disrelieved:

The rules are pretty specific when it comes to In game. If you knew Group spamming was not allowed, then there shouldn't be any reason to do it. Honestly being muted for 6 months was a big yikes, but I respected it. I feel like giving the options for muted people to do /r would not teach them to abide by the rules.

Don't break the rules, and you won't get muted. If someone else breaks the rules, that does not give you an excuse to break them either, as you have the option of ignoring them or chatreporting them, if you wish.

Disrespect is a vague rule, but it's not like it'll encompass anything in friendly banter. It's your fault for saying something the other player disliked and reported you for, and changing the mute system itself won't do anything. It seems you've been muted for this before and didn't learn your lesson, so the punishment length is extended as a result. Don't be toxic; I learned that the hard way, but I'm much better off for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I also fully think there should be a way to personally /ignore all of general chat without having to individually ignore each player.
