Ever since I started playing Minecraft in 1.4 (wither update?), I have been fascinated with the CTM Genre. Around a year later, I "tried" to make my own map but immediately found myself stuck, uninspired and frustrated. So, I stuck to just playing maps...

I left Minecraft for a couple of years, and have found myself interested again in both the game and the genre. Then, I found Race for the Wool.

Sadly, I don't think I will be able to help get interest/members into this sub-genre traditionally (publicizing by playing/livestreaming maps) but would like to try via creating/publicizing maps. That's where you guys (can) come in.

I would like to create a series of RFTW Maps as I have many, many ideas for them, but I have no idea how to manage them. So, the following are a list of questions I have involving map creation.

    1. Once I have created one lane, how do I mirror it (also involving non-linear lanes/multiple lanes.)

    2. Can someone teach me/link me a couple of tutorials involving scoreboard setup/useful commands, etc that will make the play experience/creating experience better?

    3. What are the best versions to create RFTW Maps?

    4. For non-server/non-tournament maps, I was thinking about some modded RFTW maps. Got any mod suggestions?
Also, the race for the wool website won't load for me. Any fixes?

Hi! It’s great to hear you’re interested in Minecraft again and you want to build a map. For your first question, I recommend installing WorldEdit or MCedit, free programs that make building a lot easier. As for the scoreboards, I’m sure they exist somewhere on YouTube. I personally enjoy 1.8.9 but any version will work, especially the recent ones. I have never really dabbled with mods so I can’t give you any suggestions there. Anyhow, I hope I helped a bit (: Have a great day!
