So basically I saw this guy in chat on prison saying "Hiring builders for my server /msg me" or something like that and we had to wait for him to be muted until he got muted for spam because he accidently messed up by putting 3+ messages in a row. Now for say he didn't mess up he could just sit there and say he is hiring builders for his server. That should not be aloud I think minecraft central should make a rule against it because we are just trying to play on minecraft central. We don't want to hear "Hiring builders for my server" no we are on minecraft central for a reason we like this server. They should try and make a rule targeting these type of messages might not be the most muted reason or even close but for those situations it comes in handy.

    Hello!
I see where you're going but, saying "Hiring builders for my server /msg me" has nothing to do with an IP so it would not go under "Advertisement". But I do thing MCC should re-enforce a new rule "Server Advertisement" which will be a severity 3 offence. The "Server Advertisement" Should contain: Server IP's & non-mcc server related advertisements. Advertisement's will still stand in place taking place for: Advertisements that are like website's, and non-server related.

    Hello Minninq!

    Statement:

I somewhat agree with your opinion! I believe it shouldn't be allowed but at the same time the rules specifically states "Sending an IP in private messages is allowed if the other player has requested for it."

    Facts:

Now according to that quote right from the rule book, there is a rule about people ASKING for the IP/to become builder (in your case) in PMs/messages. To be frank, the rules already address this case of scenario with getting people to ask for the IP/to become builder (in your case) in messages/PMs so, therefore, no punishment will be given to the player since they technically according to the rules did nothing wrong.

    My Opinion:

I personally still see this as advertising and believe people who blatantly advertise like this should be punished with the punishment "Advertising" which is a permanent mute (Appealable). But on the other hand, the rules already gave an example of a situation which gives a very clear indication that as long as you're giving IPs/builder on another server (in your case) in PMs/Messages and the person clearly ask for it. It is completely fine and not punishable.

    Ending:

Thank you for reading my opinion on this subject and have a beautiful day/night!

I personally would +1 for the Advertisement rule not only included other Minecraft Server IPs but like what you just said which was "Hiring builders for my server /msg me" since they are advertising that they need builders for another server which shouldn't be allowed. I also do agree with you on what you said about being on MCC is that we are on MCC because we like playing it and we do not wanna hear advertisments for other servers which we most likely do not care about that much about.

I agree with you 100%. For example, a couple days ago someone said "this server sucks come play on <server name>". Nobody wants to see any messages telling you that you should leave McCentral and join another server. Also, there are people who actually leave to play on another server, which not good for MCC's playerbase. The only issue I see is how the rule could be implemented. The way I think it would work the best would be a Severity 1 Mute, which is dealt out when one player tells another player to join another server (even if it's not named). However, I could also see this being a problem because what if you want to play Cake Wars with a friend but you can't get into a game? The next logical step would be to move to a different server, but you can't suggest that without commiting a chat offense. Overall, I would like to see this as a rule, but I think it could be a very complicated thing to add and might be more trouble than it's worth.

I feel that this would bring up a lot of unnecessary mutes. People often ask if people want to 1v1 on servers where they have better ping, and if people were getting muted for it, we'd lose a few players. I know servers where you can't even mention other servers, and if you do so you get perm banned. I myself have asked people if they want to 1v1 on another server where we'd both have better ping and I wouldn't like to risk my demotion because of a rule that would lead to a lot of punishments daily. -1

Hey you wouldn't get in trouble for mentioning other servers like hey wanna 1v1 me on this server no its more like hey hiring people or purposely saying it over and over but not spamming or chat flooding just telling people over and over not simply asking once in dms or in chat hey lets 1v1 on this server

    Hello Minninq,
As others have stated because the person is not mentioning an ip for a server therefore it would not go under the category ‘Advertising’ but I believe it should be added under this category as it is clearly asking people to join his server and build for him which is obviously advertising. The reason that other people get muted for different ridiculous reasons cannot mean that someone gets away with successfully advertising but luckily gets muted for spam.
