As you know, Harvest Hoe is a very useful tool around the server - especially Prison, Survival and Skyblock. But for those who use it soon realize it doesn't work for ALL planting/farming. This issue occurred to me when doing my Melon & Cocoa Bean farms, seeing it needed an axe to farm them quicker. The idea of this is to have the same ability to "replant" the farming items (Cocoa Beans on the trees) to cause less work to replant them all after breaking them. I think this would be a useful idea and addition to the game for certain modes. Make sure to vote if you'd like to see this happen so Staff can possibly consider it.
Hey! I think this is a great idea! However, I doubt it will be added, Alex has his hands full. 10/10 idea though, I hope they do add this, as it will be useful. I would maybe suggest them just adding that functionality to HH themselves. -N3UR0T0X1N
Hey there! As good as an idea this is, I'm not sure it's the best thing to be added, as we have good alternatives already for melons and such, as well as I don't think using something like a "Harvest Axe" on a solid block would be useful. The block would need to be broken anyway in order to quickly farm it. Harvesting the solid block and having it instantly grow back would be a major exploit to farming as well, as you would not have to wait for the melons to grow. As for the cocoa beans, this would be a great idea to have a tool to replant them, but it's not that much effort to plant them anyway.
Hi Flickur, thank you for your post. This sounds like an interesting idea, and I agree it will be helpful for farming cocoa beans. I prefer not to see it added, however, since it's not going to help the gameplay much and it will make Survival even further away from vanilla survival. This new tool is probably not going to be helpful for melons, pumpkins or trees, because if it replants the blocks then they can be harvested over and over again, which is an exploit. For cocoa beans, note that the selling price for cocoa beans is much lower than that of melons, and harvesting them with a fortune axe does not increase the drops. From here one can tell that cocoa beans aren't designed to be a major source of money, like melons. They are farmable, like cactus, but they are not designed in a way such that farming them will make a good profit. Because of that, cocoa bean farms are not nearly as popular as melon farms, even if they can be harvested automatically and replanting is all it takes. Adding a harvesting tool which will only help harvest a crop that's not designed to make a good amount of profit doesn't seem to be a great idea, considering that harvesting tools make the game further away from vanilla survival. These are my thoughts, and have a nice day/night :).
Hi Flickur! I think this is a great idea for Cocoa Beans, and I think it would add some sort of value to a Cocoa Bean farm (Because as mentioned previously, it's quite a worthless farm to own at this point.) I think if Cocoa Beans had an easier way to be farmed and started dropping tokens, the farms would become much higher value. People could farm melons while their cocoa beans grow and then farm cocoa beans while their melons grow. The process could make farming much easier and solve a large problem the community has been facing with tokens being too high value with the addition of cocoa beans dropping them and being able to be harvested from a tool that replants. It's a +1 from me. Have a nice day/night! -Zguy2000
heyo bizz i think this is a cool idea n’ all that; however, i can see where other people are coming from about how it probably wouldn’t be added and melons&pumpkins already replant themselves. I think if this was already added, it should be something larger than fortune.3 just so normal immortal axes couldn’t be an easy alternative. with that said, that can also make survival too op real quick... there’s kinda both really good pros and cons with this idea. overall, it’s a -1 from me just since i don’t see a huge demand for this atm with quests, spawners, and harvest hoes in survival now. have a poo poo day! ~poopoosaurus
It'd be a bit annoying breaking the wood behind the cocoa beans all the time too :p Love the idea though!
