~ Guide to Becoming [Helper] ~ I am not going to use crazy images and edits to make this thread crazy, and such for this thread. I am going to keep majority of it simple, and straight to the point. This is a guide to get staff on MCCentral. And as an application team member, I can assure you that this guide will for sure help you. First things first. When applying for a position on the staff team, you will be reviewed by the application team members. Anyone with the application team tag (As well as admins), will be reviewing everything I mention below, and sometimes more. Application Team is for senior moderators and higher. You can find out who is on the application team through the staff section of the forums. - Reports - Please be sure to chatreport players ingame, AND on forums. We look at forum activity mostly when it comes to the application process. Please be sure you have been recently active in reporting. We look at the dates of the reports as well, so we know how dedicated into reporting you actually are. I will provide some examples below: User reports 3 times this month, and the rest of the reports were from 3 months ago - This would not be a good thing because they only did 3 recent reports before applying. This would really be considered when looking through the rest of the application. User reports 20 users throughout the month, and continues to report even after sending in the application - This is a good thing. Please remember to continue to report even after applying for staff. You should not just report a bunch and apply, and just stop there as the application process could take more than a week. User applies and has not reported since 3 months ago - This is not good. Just because you have 50+ reports as the requirement, does not mean you are exempt from reporting on the forums. We look into the recent activity of reporting to see how dedicated you are into applying. Basically, make sure you are up to date with frequent reporting. Also another thing, we would like you to record hackers. If you for example only report plot clears for the whole month, it just shows you are not trying to take your time to get rid of hackers and just doing it the easy route. - Forum Activity - As an applicant, it is required you are active on the forums as well. As the requirement is 20 posts, it is not too hard to get these posts in, however you need to have your posts well thought out, and worked into. You will also need to be recently active on forums as well to be considered. You can't just have 20+ posts from months ago, and not post much before applying. We look at how recent some of your posts are in the application process. A player posts an idea for spawners to be removed in prison - "I agree with this post, spawners are ruining economy +1" This above is not a good post. You did not really take time to discuss the idea. As your requirements for posting is not hard to meet considering you only need 20 posts, make sure they are decently detailed. A player posts an idea for spawners to be removed in prison - "I agree with this post! In my opinion, prison was more fun back when..." (Insert big opinionated post here) This post above is good. You stated your opinion on if you agree or disagree, and then state reasons for why you think this, making the post a lot more meaningful and shows you want to be active on the forums. A player makes an application, and their most recent forum post was from 1 month ago - Your application may be denied due to this reason. We strongly advise you be active all around the server, whether it's ingame, forums, reporting, ect so that we know you are able to become a staff member for the server itself. Another thing with forums, is your recent activity when it comes to posting. Make sure your recent posts are up to date and post quite a bit before applying. We would like to see practically a whole page of recent posts rather than like 5 recent posts, and then the rest of the posts from months ago. Please make sure all of this happens (: - Ingame Activity - Your ingame activity is very important when applying for the staff position. This shows how active you are ingame and it shows us how dedicated you are when it comes to your time on the server. I will provide some things you will need to remember below. Remember that your ingame activity needs to be active on more than at least 2 subservers. We do not want you just only playing one single subserver that you main and nothing else. We want to know you are more frequent with the server, known by more than just one subserver, and to know that you have more knowledge than just one subserver. We also just want to know that you are aware of what else is happening around the server as well. I will provide some examples below. User has a playtime of 300 minutes in lobby, and 4,000 on skyblock, and very small minutes dotted around other subservers - This is not a good thing considering it shows that they only main skyblock. We need you to get a decent amount of minutes spread out whether it's minigames, uhc, or just other subservers in general. (Even tho we would like you to be active on more than one subserver no matter what) User has a playtime of 900 on Prison, 300 on Survival, and some small minutes spread around the server - This is a good thing because you are actually active on more than one subserver, and still slightly play other subservers for a little bit. User has playtime spread out with over 100 minutes within all subservers and 600 on minigames - These are amazing minutes to apply with because you are frequent in activity ingame, and shows that you are surely active all around the server. User is seen using an afk machine in every subserver to gain these minutes - This is not a very good thing as it shows you are not dedicated to making these minutes in a legit way. Your application will not be ofc instantly denied due to this, but it may be considered if you are just using an afk machine to get these minutes all spread out to apply. It does not show dedication. As said above, these are JUST examples to show what is good and what is bad. Your activity could still be considered depending on what it is, but refer to this above on what is not a good idea, and what is. - Discord Activity - Discord activity is a good thing to have when applying because that is how staff members can see who you are, and how you act as discord is a good way to interact with staff members. This section will not be totally big as discord activity is not crazily mandatory until you get staff but it still is a good thing. When being active on discord before applying, you have the ability to help others in #support, as well as socialize with others around the discord server. Please remember that you should limit yourself when it comes to this tho because if you are seen as immature, then we will be having second thoughts. #support - When helping others in #support, remember that this is what every staff member can see. You need to be 100% certain on an answer before you decide to help others because you need to show you have knowledge. Also another thing, PLEASE do not camp support. We would like to see someone pop in every now and then and help others, but do not sit and wait to camp support and try to take a staff members job. Another thing when it comes to #support, it does look good when you occasionally let us know where hackers are. Now we would like to see you record these and report these on forums as said above if applying for staff, but the occasional "@Staff Member a bhopper on Kitpvp named please come" is still a good thing and we still see this and show you want hackers gone. - Maturity- This is by far the most important thing when dialing it down to the application process. No matter what, if you have everything above mastered and you still are shown off as immature, you are canceled until you can fix this. Below I can provide multiple examples of lack of immaturity. User likes a post, agrees with, or even posts about a drama related post - It is not a good thing to involve yourself in drama because that does show a lot. Below these examples I will also explain in more detail about this. User applies for staff, and then goes around telling players that they applied - It is okay to tell your friends or what not that you applied for staff, but do not go around bragging to others about you getting interview, applying, ect. It doesn't look good that you are making such things so public like this. User is caught in server / discord arguments frequently - Being in drama as I said above, is not a good thing. Small bickering still isn't the greatest, but it won't destroy your application, now if it happens frequently ingame or discord, then it would be given second thoughts with your future applications. User has ranted about staff in the past, and then cleared their wall before applying - Nice try!!! We know. You for sure are not going to be considered if you make rants and have drama, and then try to hide it as if we are blind. Trust me, we know, and we won't take it lightly. User gets muted and makes a giant scene about it in #support and the forums, and proceeds to harass staff until it's fixed - This is not a good idea considering it shows you are not fit enough to calmy approach an issue and discuss it. If the punishment was false, then discuss it politely and then let it go once the final answer is given. It is not mature to just assume the punishment was false and cause a scene. User gets their application denied and then thinks they have time to be immature before applying again - As soon as your application is denied, you are still looked at as an applicant. Being rude and toxic after your application has been denied, will 100% effect future applications. User sees a staff member join the server, and says "hey IGN, I know you are online ;)" or calling out a staff member that is invisible - You do not do this as there is a reason they went in vanish. If you blow their cover, it might become an issue. Not only for you, but to the staff member, and a player they could be potentially spectating. User follows a staff member around and knows where they are through msgf, and continues to try to get attention from them - Yes, it is okay to be social to staff members, and application team members, but you do not need to exploit yourself and tend to become this way to get helper. We review you through your effort, not just how you portray yourself to us. We can tell the difference between being friendly, and being "obsessed" if you want to call it that. These above are just SOME examples of what makes someone immature to be accepted. This happens often and is really common. Just have a lot of common sense on stuff you do ingame, discord, and enjin because it is all looked into. - Knowledge - One of the most important parts of applying, is the knowledge and how you go through knowing the rules. You for sure will need this as a staff member for MCC, and need a good knowledge base on the rules. Now, you aren't expected to know EVERYTHING, however you still need a good bit of knowledge to apply with, especially to make it through interview stage. Rules - https://mccentral.org/community/rules/ Interview Stage - You are going to get through the interview stage if you get your application accepted through. In this, you will be asked questions about the server, and yourself. Study - I know this sounds silly, but it is a good idea to get through before going into the interview. Get a great knowledge of the rules before you apply as you should need this before getting accepted. Factions Staff - As a factions staff, you are only required to know factions related rules and warnings (Besides chat and ban punishment knowledge) Feel free to get a good knowledge of this before applying for factions staff. You will be ask only factions related topics in the interview stage. Questions - Never feel afraid to ask questions. However, as it says in some sections, maturity can differ depending on what you do with wanting knowledge. Example being @ing staff a lot asking heaps of questions. It's okay to ask questions, but do not overdo it as a suggestion as it can show your knowledge is slim. Chatreports and Reports - Your CR and Reports stats can also determine how you have a grip of the rules. If you have lots of chatreports accepted over denied, that is a good sign. Also, if you have lots of forum reports denied, it is not good. Whether it is hacker reports, or chat reports. Hacker reports also determine as you do not have a knowledge on what hacks look like. - Punishments - Your past punishments could also effect your application. If you have a ton of mutes, warns, bans, ect. It can show something. Make sure you have not been punished in a while before applying to know you are aware of the rules. Severity 1 Offenses - You must wait 1 month after receiving a severity 1 punishment Severity 2 Offenses - You must wait 1 month after receiving a mute, and 2 months after receiving a ban punishment Severity 3 Offenses - You must wait 6 months after receiving a severity 3 punishment A small note. Please remember to NEVER be afraid to ask questions. You could pm an applications member to ask if it's right to apply, what you need to improve on, and ect. It makes it a good thing to request help on if you should apply or not before applying. Also, if you get denied, feel free to message an applications team member on what you should improve on before applying for your next application (: This will help you with applying for your next application. Good luck!!
