Appeal Changes (Admins)

    Hello! I would like to discuss the appeal's and what should be changed and everyone's opinion.

    First of all, admins have unlimited time to answer appeals, which I think is unnecessary because they can easily abuse these times and typically, over experience and asking around, it takes 2-3 weeks to answer an appeal which takes 5-10 mins out of your time to answer. This isn't fair to everyone who's been patiently waiting for there appeal to be read in order to play the server and or chat in it. Admins should be allowed 5 days to respond to appeals, as this can't be abused and players shouldn't be waiting as long. I understand admins are busy people, but i'm pretty sure you can take some time to do appeals within 5 days. They applied for staff because they we're willing to take time and moderate the server and make everyone happy. Not taking a little time out of your day to handle something mostly simple as a yes or no, or a decrease in time, is unreasonable. People have been annoyed with this and I don't see the purpose of this as once again, this is easily abused. Every other staff has taken time to do this, I don't see what makes admins get this rule. Once again, I understand that their busy but infinite time is just way to long. Please respond with your honest opinion and maybe we can change this?! Thanks!

    I kind of get where you are coming from, with unlimited time being unnecessary but the main reason for this is most likely they are busy. Now never having to appeal a punishment by an admin, I can not necessarily say what I think about how long they take but I am pretty sure they will try and reply as soon as they can, it is just not a requirement as they shouldn’t really be told off for being busy as admin is a lot of work which is why they say it is unlimited time, when really its just when they can.

    • Yes, they don’t need an unlimited time, but they should try and handle them with the best of their ability, I can not comment if they are or are not doing this already as I have no evidence, but it just prevents people reporting someone who has been nominated a top position on the staff team, for being a day late.

    I see what you're saying here, and I know this sort of thing can be abused. However, current admins have been nominated by the other admins and approved by the owners before they were promoted, and of course this means they are hardworking people who have shown their dedication to MCC for long enough to apply, then work their way up the ranks. Abusing perms is not something an admin would really do, because they are vetted before making it to the position and are obviously too busy to care about making a big deal over appeals. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    There are two big caveats to this idea; who would enforce this rule, and will this even be useful in practice? Helpers and Moderators are watched over by their mentors, and the SrMod team is regulated by the admins. If a time limit was added and an admin replied a day late, this would mean an owner would need to be called to deal with the situation. This is not really viable, as the owners are very busy and generally have better things to do than ask an admin why they replied to an appeal a day late.

    In almost every case, the admins are very consistent with replying to appeals. When I was staff, most appeals for admins were dealt with within a week, and it seems now the time has shortened even more. They're entrusted to run the server, and I feel like breathing down their back over something like appeals is a little weird, no? Again, this would make sense if they take much longer than other staff to reply to appeals, but this is not the case.

    So overall, I see what you want and why it could be beneficial to MCC, but there are major drawbacks and I feel they strongly outweigh any sory of benefit to the server. It's just a waste of the admins/owner's time to implement something like this. -1 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    To start, I was never a fan of appeals and here's why.

    1) How often do people receive a punishment that wasn't justified?
    2) I have been muted once in 2014 because I said something stupid to an admin, and by them time I could have written the appeal, it would have been over.
    3) I was raised to take your punishments like a "man" or an adult to be politically correct. Many times (not on MCC) I have seen people appeal for "apology" and that they'll never do it again. Through my childhood and into my adult years now, I can confidently say that the only way to learn from your mistakes, is to learn to take a punishment.


    I want you to know that this is only my opinion. For the record, I do think that sometimes people are falsely punished, but overall, probably more times than not, staff acted in a reasonable manner to handle a situation.

    hey just to get this outa the way, i -1
    firs off, staff can take loas for like 30 days max if they save their days which is over 3 weeks. yikes. second, admins are busy and most check forums quite oftenly, and I feel like adding more to their plate to check appeals to meet a deadline would kinda be a waste especially since admins cant get infracs, who's gonna give them an "infrac" if they dont get to it on time? markey doesnt have the time to babysit admins, thats why they are admins...
    while appeals don't take that long to reply to, depending on the situation and the player and any history and/or how they initially handle the punishment they get, it can take longer than 5-10 min to reply to the appeal. for your case, ik you wasnt waiting patiently you fucking called out unadvised in support like a child.... yikers.. or so i've been told. anwyays not my business so idc
    admins have been doing this appeal thing longer than most staff so, i feel like it's almost the fact they earned this privilege to take a little more time w/ appeals since also, as mentioned above and in this post, they have other responsibilities.
    i feel like you're not sseeing the big picture, yeah, so they get a little more laid back w/ one rule/guideline but they are put on the spot for so much more like w/ mentor team and taking leadership in general. not only that, let's take unadvised for example, he's busy carrying factions so it's not as much of a joke people make it out to be, and people like you trying to change appeal rules and guidelines because you used a publc alt gen knowing that those are at your own risk w/ a forums post written about all that types of stuff prior to you getting banned and whatnot. like not to be annoying or whatever, but there were resources that were available to community members as warnings about things and players still did not follow, along w/ I have a feeling you knew about it since you were minimodding in #support prior to you getting banned.

    overall, I am a lil -1 on the whole admins and appeal times since they have a lot more and being lenient on one rule compared to all the rest they put up w/ seems silly and whack to try and change

    mans spitting facts, my 50+ punishments (if you include discord and forums) have all helped me lean rules and grow as a community member lowkey.

    Just imagine how many reports their are, we have to understand that they both have this website to check for reports and a bunch in game /chat report.
