I KNOW, I KNOW! This is a dupe thread but I wanted to dive a little deeper into this for my podcast :p. What we know: The anti-cheat hasn't been updated in years. The server definitely needs one, from my knowledge most bans are done via report / moderating. Requests and complains for the anticheat are made all the time and I think most staff have publicly acknowledged this. The server almost definitely *not sure though* has the money to get one. This thread / podcast probably will do nothing to change that. I just posted this so I can get everyone's views and theories on why this is and what is going on with the anti-cheat. I'm trying to make an extra long podcast episode about this and would appreciate as many points of view as possible. -----------------------------------------------\ ALSO HUGE THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF/PLAYERS WORKING THEIR BUTTS OFF TO GO AROUND BANNING HACKERS FOR HOURS <3 <3 <3
howdy howdy! while I have no special insight on the anti cheat, I do know for sure that the server developers and quality assurance team are not ignoring the issue. many people have complained about not doing anything and how "its so easy to get one so hurry up", but I believe they're trying to find the best one for the server . Every anticheat is different, and some don't work as well with plugins as others do, which is why its not such a simple process. in the mean time, we love having players forum reporting hackers, even if it does take a little while, every ban adds up. thanks, nik
Hello, While I agree with the anticheat being updated it wouldn't solve most issues. However, even the anarchy server 2b2t has an anticheat that blocks straight flyhacking (they block most movement-based due to lag) It's absurd that you can fly around in skywars. nocheat+ stops flyhacks. Hopefully quality assurance gets to adding Something to fix this issue. -Injection
Hey Nikki, no offense to you at all, but I personally completely disagree with what you stated. You claimed that "every ban adds up", but this is really not the case when most hackers have an IP changer and unlimited alts, so when they are banned or even eventually IP banned, they can continue cheating to their heart's content. Additionally, it's nice to hear that the reason the Anticheat is taking so long is that MCC wants to find the best one possible for the server, but if this is such a long, never-ending quest, couldn't admin implement some sort of temporary anticheat that's better than whatever limited stuff we have now until they find the so-called "best one for the server" they're looking for? Thanks, YouGetMeSoHigh
While this is still very true, the process of eliminating the accounts is pretty good. I have found that more often than not, using #support in the discord server ensures that the player will get punished within minutes. I was thinking exactly what Nikki_ posted. If MC-Central was going to add a temporary anticheat to their server, this could cause unexpected errors and bugs that the server is not prepared for. All in all, we just have to be patient and hope it comes sooner than anticipated.
Hey there fedham! I think this anticheat should be coming soon, like Nikki_ said, but I also have a theory on why it is taking so long. As all of you guys should know, MCC has three tiers of Severity when it comes to punishments. Severity 1 and 2 aren’t the most looked at, so I am assuming that they will mainly look at Severity 3. It is a perm ban, once they reach their 3rd Sev 3 ban, the first ban is 30 days, and the second ban is 60 days. I have the feeling that this is taking so long is because the owners are trying to code it, so it can track how many times the person has been banned, so that when a hacker does hack, it can ban said person for that long. This would obviously cause the owners to do a lot of work and coding. Also, the owners have a bunch of other things like resets that would also need to be taken care of. This is just my theory, it’s not to cause drama, but I just wanted to express my ideas. <3
ok I don't mean to sound mean in this reply, just saying there was just an anti-cheat post, like right below this one, so there is no need to make a whole new thread for it. I have also made a forum explaining why no anti-cheat has been updated or is competent in the present. according to KieranBoal, one of the developers of the server, there is no AC coming anytime soon. it may look like I'm some random kid saying this, but despite rumors of Alex purchasing a subscription in an anti-cheat discord (which have proved to be false), there is no AC coming anytime soon. here is the forum I made explaining why the anti-cheat doesn't work well, why a new one hasn't been made, and some tips to use the anti-cheat or sort of activate it yourself which I have tried and been successful. LINK: https://mccentral.org/community/threads/why-the-anti-cheat-hasnt-been-upgraded.107523/
read the second half of my reply as well, please. and also i like your podcast and i'd like my information in the other forum post i made linked above in the podcast if possible so i can spread the information about it. it's important that people are educated about it.
I'll add your view to the episode, but just know you said "there's no need to make another one". Dont mean to come off rude but I'm trying to include as many peoples views and opinions as I can, your view / answer isn't the only one that people have to see :/. After interviewing the highest admins and staff I could talk to, they didn't even have a straight answer or the same one which I will go into when the episode drops. Thanks for adding your view though!
I understand that, but on the other hand I have information from an actual MCC developer and he has tried many times to enlighten why there isn't much of an AC, to no avail. It doesn't really come down to opinions at this point, if real factual information exists. I don't mean to come off rude either. I don't mean to be self-centered if that's what you think I am, but people are spreading false information about the server that should be stopped as soon as possible. And it's not my view, it's actual facts again that came from Kieran Boal.
All of the information on your post also had already been written by someone else who I guess might have been friends with the dev but another important point I was reaching was the misinformation. I had moderater litterally tell me they "weren't allowed to take about the anticheat" while Sr mods or admins tell me they had little to no information and to me that's a big sign that there is a big lack of information being given out. That's why I said we were both achieving 2 different things, just using the same topic.
