Hello everybody, my name is Josh. I feel like there's a lot to be said about skyblock that I just want to touch upon. You may be asking to yourself, why is this man telling me the basics of skyblock, but truthfully I'm telling you my secrets as to how I managed to become the number 1 island four times in a row. - - - The Basics of Money: I know this may seem like something pretty self-explanatory, but I feel like it needs to be mentioned. Money is something extremely important not just in skyblock, but in the real world as well. I'm going to put skyblock into real-world terms. Farming is basically having a job that you have to do in order to make money. You have to work hard to get money, but once you work hard enough, and get enough money, you can invest in stocks (spawners). I know its dumbed down a little bit, but that really is all you need to know. - Here are a few tips that I have gathered throughout the years: •Start out small, but grow larger. This can mean starting out with a small farm, then getting larger and larger ones. -The farms that you should really be getting if you're starting out are sugarcane, and (I've heard melons do quite well). Both grow back extremely quick and don't need to replant. If you get a large enough farm, then you won't need to worry about waiting for it to grow back. •Harvest Hoes are amazing, don't ever forget that. -You might not even know what a harvest hoe is, so I'll tell you what that is really quickly. Harvest hoes are found inside of crate keys, and can typically be bought for around 600-700k in the auction house. They have fortune three on them, so you get a large number of crops per every one that you break (this doesn't work with sugarcane and cocoa beans). Instead of getting 4 netherwart, you're more likely to get 6 or 7. -On the topic of netherwart, this is a late-game item. I personally wouldn't recommend getting netherwart until you have a harvest hoe. Netherwart is one of the items that you have to replant by hand. In order to have the most efficient farm, I'd personally suggest using version 1.9 or higher so that you can break multiple pieces of netherwart at once. - - Building Your Base: Ah... this hits me hard. Several seasons ago on my first island that made it to the number one spot, my island had a giant gold bar just floating in the center of it. This took us days to move from one part of our island to the other. There's not much in this topic that needs to be said, but its some really important stuff. Once you get to the status of being rich enough to try to compete for island top, remember to place valuable blocks in places you won't regret later. Whether this means hiding it inside the island part of floating islands (guilty as charged), or placing it at Y=1, just remember to place it in a spot you won't regret later. - Beauty in Base Building Overall, it's not necessary to have beautiful islands if you are playing skyblock. All you need to do is have fun. Build what makes you happy, whether that be giant floating islands or a super laggy cave island warp that made you really want to quit skyblock. There are tons of bases at the top that don't look that good, but they have made good memories instead. - - - Closing Remarks: I know I didn't really touch on everything that needed to be said, but I touched on the stuff that I thought was most important. Although there is one more thing that's even more important than the rest of these. That thing is having fun. Truthfully, being the top island really made me hate skyblock. That's why I am no longer trying to become the top island. Remember to make friends, or play with friends. That's what Minecraft is all about; having fun. - I've been Josh, and you've been amazing. Thanks for reading this, cheers!
An official one of these will be released soon I’m betting. But nice job on creating this. 10/10 Even without covering everything in skyblock you at least covered what a starting player might need to know. Thanks for that.
gdy mate, Love going through every individual sub server and seeing these. These really are such a good reference page for a player starting up looking for a basic understanding, struggling to understand commands, understanding the basic objectives and also just for general help. I say well done for covering the majority of the rules / commands and well done for putting your own time in something that can help others. Cheers
