For the past 3 seasons of Factions, the server has remained untouched with very minimal changes (due to us working hard on content for other parts of the network - Minigames Revamp!). As promised last season, we are striving to deliver as much new content as possible for this upcoming Factions Reset. This upcoming season will be bringing forward some of the most highly requested features: Raid Outpost & new Koth Maps! This changelog will detail all changes big and small which players can expect to see in the upcoming season of Factions. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 5th February 3pm MST! Spoiler: Major Content Changes Major Content Changes - Brand new spawn (Big thank you to the build team which made this possible!) - Brand new KOTH map added to the rotation (Oriental Theme) - Brand new KOTH map added to the rotation (Wild West Theme) - Brand new Raid Outpost - Vastly improved Factions Chest logs - Creepers will now drop 6 TNT upon dying (buffed now that we have Raid Outpost) Spoiler: Miscellaneous Changes Miscellaneous Changes - Fixed a lag exploit which was possible on the server by using minecarts - Fixed a bug where '/warp PvP' did not take you to the PvP / Koth arena - Printer mode will now only be disabled for the first 30 minutes of SOTW (was previously 60 minutes) - Fly mode will now only be disabled for the first 30 minutes of SOTW (was previously 60 minutes) - Server has been changed to 15 man factions (was previously 10 man factions) - Power per player has been changed to 200 (was previously 300) max power is still 3,000 per faction - Factions can no longer set any allies (was previously 1 ally per faction) - Some certain commands (such as /msg and a few more) are now allowed to be used whilst in /roam - Performance optimisations have been made to SOTW - Fixed a bug where players could use rename scrolls on Harvest Hoes resulting in the Crops Harvested count breaking - Players can now use rename scrolls on flint and steel (as this is a tool that it did not previously work with) - Due to the growing request for shorter seasons, backend changes have been made to allow for reset automation in the future - Regeneration I potions have now been removed from shop (players can also no longer brew them) - Golden apple cooldown (crapple) has been increased from 20 seconds to 45 seconds - Various rule changes. Changes are listed at the bottom of this thread Raid Outpost The most highly requested feature we have been receiving for our Factions server, is a brand new Raid Outpost. This has been the main point of focus for this upcoming reset, and is our largest piece of new content. The raid outpost is a custom designed plugin, allowing players to raid a server-side base located in the center of the 'Raid Outpost' world (/warp routpost). Upon raiding the Raid Outpost, that faction will now be in control of it. It is now their duty to defend this outpost from other Factions whom are wanting to take control of it for themselves. The faction that is controlling the Raid Outpost is rewarded on an hourly basis. The Raid Outpost gives out some of the best rewards available on the server, including: Armor (God Set), Large sums of money, and additional health boost which will apply to everyone in their faction throughout the server. One of the best parts regarding the Raid Outpost is that it allows raiding during Grace Period. The Raid Outpost opens exactly 48 hours after SOTW has begun, so don't hold back and start preparing for the action as soon as possible! New KOTH Maps Many seasons back, we implemented a feature to our Factions server which allowed us to rotate between multiple King Of The Hill maps. The idea behind adding this feature at the time was to allow us to further expand our catalogue of KOTH maps to ensure the gameplay remains as fresh as possible. Every time the server goes through its daily reboot, the map would rotate to the next available map, meaning every day '/warp KOTH' would have a different build. It is fair to say that we have not utilised this feature as well as we could have. For the longest time we have had the same 2 KOTH maps in rotation without receiving any change. Moving forwards, we plan to address this by bringing forward more and more maps, starting this upcoming season! Next season, players can expect to see 2 brand new KOTH maps added to the rotation: One with a Wild West theme, and the other with an Oriental theme (designed to match with this seasons spawn)! Improved Chest Log Logs are a very important feature over on our Factions server. They are the go-to place to properly moderate exactly what your faction members are doing at certain points in time. Catching a malicious faction member as soon as possible is vital for a successful faction. Logging for the Faction Chest has been presented to players in a very slack format for the past few years. Valuable items such as 'Harvest Hoes' would appear in the Factions Chest Log as simply 'Diamond Hoe'. This behaviour carried over to all valuable items (Chunk Loaders, Blast Mine Pickaxe, etc). This update is aimed at providing a more verbose output for all items which appear in the Factions Chest log. Rule Changes - 360 Counter cannons inside your base buffer are not allowed. - A Faction is only allowed to have 1 counter cannons inside their buffer per side of the buffer. - Severity 3 client modifications ban rule will require 4 bans to the previous 3. New Spawn & Warzone Finally to conclude things: A big thank you to the build team that made this upcoming Factions reset possible! Every 2-3 seasons our Factions server gets an upgraded brand new spawn and Warzone to keep things fresh and alive! Below is a beautiful render of our upcoming Season 31 spawn!
