Minigames are where Minecraft Central started. They were the main motive for new players to come to the server when we originally opened our doors back in 2013. It is no secret that as time went on, our Minigames fell far behind expectations in many different aspects (such as content, bugs and quality of gameplay). For many years, our community has been begging for this revamp, and for the longest amount of time we had put it off! I am proud to announce that we have now taken our first steps into remaking what people originally fell in love with. This changelog will detail all major changes in regards to this huge Minigames Revamp which has now launched! We look forward to the exciting future ahead with our brand new Minigames Revamp. Spoiler: New Survival Games Maps New Survival Games Maps - Holiday Resort 2 - Demons Breeze - Duckbill City - Tresher Island - Bayside - United Nation - Zangrath - Green Grass - Futuristic City - Fillte Hordes - Esteryia - Age Of Anubis - The Orion - Downstream - Venezia Friend System This may come as a surprise to a lot of players. What does a Friends System revamp have to do with our Minigames Revamp? This was where we started back in 2020. Our Minigames had a very strong link on the backend with our Friends system. Due to the messy backend of our old Friends System, it was very hindering to work on our Minigames. We have cleaned this up with a brand new plugin, bringing forward many new features to our friends system which have been requested over the years! These features include: Ability to toggle requests, ability to delete all requests, ability to delete all friends, ability to appear offline, ability to view when your friends were last online, ability to view outgoing friend requests and the ability to toggle join notifications for your friends. All of this comes with a brand new look to our friends plugin! Guilds System Our old guilds system that was active on Minecraft Central was built into our Friends plugin. With the remake of our friends system, it only made sense to give guilds the same treatment! Our brand new guilds plugin comes with a boat load of new quality of life changes that have been requested over the years. The most notable changes which players can expect to see with the guilds plugin are: Ability to view guild logs, ability to view top monthly guilds, ability to configure permissions for your guild, ability to toggle guild chat and the ability to toggle guild requests. All of these guild changes come with an entire new face for the plugin. With commands (such as /guild list) players will now be presented with a nice GUI detailing important information (such as when your guild members were last online, how many points they have contributed etc). Spectating Ongoing Games Dealing with hackers and other rule breakers in minigames has always been very difficult for staff members. One of the main reasons for this was because staff simply did not have the ability to join ongoing minigames to spectate players / properly moderate. With this new revamp, all of our minigames are designed with this in mind. All staff and players are now able to view and join the active ongoing minigames! If your friend is currently in a minigame and you would like to spectate, this is now completely possible! Whilst in the new minigame lobby, simply use the following command: '/spec <player>' and you will be teleported directly to their game for spectating! Moderating minigames for staff members has never been easier, making this a huge step in the right direction for combating hackers. Brand New Anticheat Staff manually moderating minigames is one way to combat hackers, but it is definitely not the perfect solution. It is no secret that we have had a huge problem with hackers here on Minecraft Central. Over the years we have been jumping around between different anticheats, struggling to find a solution that works for us. We knew that this minigames revamp would not work unless we are able to also fix this problem. We are very happy to announce that we are now working closely in partnership with a brand new Anticheat which is now live! Of course, some teething problems are to be expected with any new anticheat, however the difference this time around is the fact that we can actually address these issues. Moving forwards from now, we feel we have a very good chance at combatting these rule breakers. Minigame Achievements Achievements in minigames are something that players have requested for many years. Achievements are present in many modern day gaming platforms (such as Playstation, Xbox, Steam etc). Some players love to grind, and achievements are the perfect way to give something to those who love working towards a goal! Our new achievements system splits achievements into 2 seperate categories. Challenge Achievements and Progressive Achievements. Challenge achievements are one time objectives for completing a strange / difficult task (such as catching a clownfish in Survival Games) and Progressive Achievements are long term goals which can be worked towards over a players entire Minigame Career! This will be a sure certain way to keep players busy with minigames further down the road. Nicknames This feature is devoted towards staff members and youtubers / others with a strong following who pass through our server. Simply put, being targetted is not fun. This is something that is very common for some players such as staff and youtubers. A feature that our staff members and youtubers have been requesting for many years now has been the implementation of a nickname command to disguise them ingame. This is now completely possible with the revamp, making targetting for high profile players a thing of the past! Finally, I can now play some Survival Games in peace. Voting Villager Upon joining the Minigame lobby, players will be greeted by our brand new Voting Villager! The purpose of Mr Villager is to reward those players who contribute by voting for our server. Previously, players on our Minigames were never treated very well when it came to voting. By voting for the server now, players will be able to progress through the Voting Calendar unlocking awesome rewards along the way! These rewards are things such as Tokens (which can be used to purchase awesome benefits for minigames) alongside lobby collectibles (which can only be unlocked via the voting villager!) Minigame Cosmetics Minigame cosmetics are unlocked through opening cosmetic keys (which can be obtained by playing any of our minigames). Minigame cosmetics have been reworked from the ground up, introducing many more awesome things to enhance ones gameplay. New minigame cosmetics include the following: Projectile Trails, Leather Armor Colors, Kill Messages, Death Cries, Win Celebrations, Kill Effects, Guardian Angels & Player Tags! This new and improved cosmetic system allows for a much improved set of cosmetics (such as soaring around on a flying pig upon winning a minigame)! I'm sure you will have lots of fun unlocking and experiencing them all. 15 New Survival Games Maps Survival Games has been our test guinea pig for this long awaited revamp! Being the first game to make its way over (and also one of our most respected games), we wanted to ensure it gets the special treatment it deserves. This has been a long time coming, but finally Survival Games has a new whopping 15 maps for players to enjoy! We now have a staggering 43 maps in rotation on Survival Games, and plan to continue adding more in the near future. One of the best things regarding this revamp is simply how easy it is for us to add new maps (something which has always been a struggle in our past). This is a huge step, and allows for consistent updates moving forwards. Minigame Quests Another new highly requested feature added to the revamp is Minigame Quests. At any point in time there is 5 available quests (which can be viewed by typing '/quests' inside the minigame lobby). Quests give players a set objective, rewarding them with both Experience and Tokens for completing them. Tokens are a new currency which has been introduced with this revamp. Tokens can be obtained in 2 ways: By completing quests and through the Voting Villager. Tokens can be used to purchase some exclusive items, such as: Super Votes (make your map vote more powerful in minigames), Cosmetic Keys and Amplifiers (personal experience boost when playing Minigames). Brand New Levelling System With the revamp, we wanted to touch up on one of our legacy systems, this system being the way minigame levels worked. In the past, Minigame levels used to be represented by a straight forward number in front of players names. With this revamp, we have swapped over to a more modern system consisting of Prestiges and Levels. Players will now progress through 99 levels before prestiging to progress further. Each prestige will come with brand new fancy colors to flex your level in chat and tablist. As you progress through the prestiges, levels will begin to become more and more difficult to proceed through with the goal of making levelling up feel more rewarding. Revamped Statistics Of course, what are minigames without a competitive aspect! Statistics have always been a very important aspect of Minigames. Statistics act as a way to show just how good (or bad) you are at a minigame! With this revamp we wanted to ensure our statistics are top notch with players expectations. Many new statistics have been added for Survival Games, along with the ability to now view: Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Lifetime statistics. Alongside all of this, we now keep track of players 'Win Streaks' so you can now compete for the longest win streak amongst other players in the community! Miscellaneous Changes Of course, much more has changed behind the scenes. This revamp has been in the works for over 6 months, and is the biggest update applied to MCCentral to date. Loads of smaller changes have been made to Survival Games, all of which have been suggested over the years. Some of these changes include: Fixed hunger, Enchanting experience reworked, Donator perks balanced with the new EULA, ability to toggle other players cosmetics, warmup added to the tier chests which players spawn with, all players having the ability to unlock the tracking compass and much more! This revamp is only the start of what is to come. This is the hardest step which is now completed, and we are looking forward for what is to come! As always, enjoy. - Minigames Revamp Trailer - A huge thank you to our staff member 89p for putting together this awesome trailer for the upcoming revamp!
