I understand where Alex is coming from when he decided to make the requirements for YT rank 10,000 subscribers but I feel like this is too much for MCC. The first reason I think that the requirements should be lowered is because of the lack of Youtuber that actually plays with over 10,000 subscribers. Mc Centrals player base contains a very little amount of actual YouTubers never the less a YouTuber with over 10 thousand subscribers. The only Youtuber I've seen play MCC with over 10k subs was MadMaker7 and that video was showing how much he hated the server. In my opinion, YT rank should consist of 1000-1500 subs with an active 500 views per video on the server. This to me seems more realistic considering not many people with 1000 subs can reach the 500 views per video mark. I noticed that since the last release of YT rank Alex has lowered it but I still believe it should be lowered. Let me know your thoughts on this in the comments!
I think that the requirements are ok as they are and don't need much change, however I think the requirement of having mainly MCC content should be removed, as there may be YouTubers who are popular but who just started on MCC, yet they still deserve YouTuber rank. There could be a new change - if you have mainly MCC content you only need 1000 subscribers, but if you don't have mainly MCC content you need the full 10000 subscribers.
Hey there, I think that the requirement of 10,000 subscribers (as of yesterday, I believe) was an interesting decision. This helps promote the server to a larger audience. When the requirement was at 1,000 subscribers, there were hardly any YouTubers on the server anyways. I've seen a grand total of 3 YouTubers with the rank on MCC, and one of them was a paid partner. YouTuber rank isn't all that special though, it only provides Immortal Rank perks and gives a fancy tag. I believe that if it were to be changed, the requirement should be a lower amount of subscribers (1,000, for example), but give harsher requirements relating to content. Views are hard to control as people with 1,000 subscribers cannot maintain 500 views per video, so I would give a requirement such as upload a (x) minute MCC video weekly. YouTube rank is a fantastic idea, it just needs some slight changes so that the rank can actually be used often and reliably. I'd prefer having 3-5 active youtubers on the server rather than the 3 that I saw with the rank that didnt even make MCC content.
I agree it should be lowered. And I'll explain why. Minecraft is starting to rise again and a number of the major Minecraft YouTubers are only just starting to return to the game. I think by lowering the requirements, it could help a lot of MC YouTubers feel more comfortable potentially recording on the server for the rank and being a helping hand in how MCC is perceived by the public. There is little incentive for a popular MC YouTuber wanting to record on MCC. In the past few years, MCC YouTubers really didn't contribute much to the server. There are problems within that which wasn't all one side, but I won't go into that. But overall, if I'm an MC YouTuber with 30k subscribers wanting to attach my name to MCC, I'm going to want to see some YouTubers who actually worked out for the server. Lowering the requirements would bring in a lot more opportunities for potential applicants who have a lot more leverage than MCC. I like MCC, but in the marketing/advertising department, I don't think it has the leverage to be able to ask of 10k subscribers from a potential applicant. MCC still has some work to do there. And if things improve, then I bet my opinion will change on the current requirements. Those are my overall points and I would love to hear some feedback from you guys on this. I'm familiar with the whole YouTuber process anyways because back when I was admin (and leading the Media Team), I sought out potential YouTubers to bring onboard as well as consider applications.
A lot of HCF servers have two different YouTuber ranks -- YouTube and Partner. Youtuber has a lower requirement and gets less perks. Partners are more tied in with the server and have a higher requirement. This would be helpful because McCentral could use all the exposure it could get!
10,000 subscribers isn’t unreasonable as the entire purpose of a YouTube rank is to promote the server to large groups of people. It’s all about advertising. That being said, most major and well known youtubers that already have the required amount of subscriptions are not seen on MCC. Presumably because people such as Technoblade didn’t apply for YouTube rank on this server. Why? No idea. Well I have some ideas but that’s not what this thread is about. However, a way to attract some of these big youtubers could be to give them better perks when they achieve such a rank. Currently (someone mentioned this above) the only thing a YouTube rank really gives is immortal rank perks and arguably the coolest tag on the server. That’s not much incentive. Incentive that could be implemented would be such things as a /nick command so they don’t have to bother with people spamming or targeting them because of their tag and play custom games (kind of like what Hypixel has to offer) where a youtuber can choose to play a game with a select number of friends only (or even just his party). These perks would make a youtubers life interested in MCC easier and more enjoyable. Which would encourage him or her to play on this server. Could the subscription requirement be lowered a little so that we would have more? Maybe. Especially considering the chances of getting BajanCanadian to join mcc is kinda slim. We may have to start at a lower level and work up to larger youtubers. Again it’s about advertising. But who knows. lowering the requirements is ultimately a decision the owner has to make. That’s my two cents, please let me know what you think! -Smashhhh
I do 100% agree with what you have stated here, but I feel like MCC as stated above by another player should have both a Youtuber Rank and a partner rank. This meaning that Youtuber rank would have lower requirements and most likely not be paid and partner rank would have the 10k subs and be paid for making videos on the server.
This is not true. Many other servers that are bigger than MCC have this rank set to a lower standard and they are actually seeing people apply for it. In the entirety of MCC, there have only been a handful of YouTubers and currently, I believe there is 0 playing on the server. This is not a self-entitled forum post it is to benefit all of MCC as a whole.
You literally made the requirements fit directly to the standards of your YT channel, how is this not self serving
I based those requirements off of other servers. Those are very popular requirements for YT rank. For example, the following servers have those requirements, Minemen Club, VeltPvP, VanityMC, TheArchon, Arcane (Did), Lunar, and many other servers that have no been listed.
I'll admit I don't know the YT requirements for any of those servers off of the top of my head, but its really really suspicious that you said 1000-1500 subs while you have 1250, and 500 views per video when you get 385.
MadMaker7's video says "Why I hate MCCentral" because all of his server reviews say that in the title. In the MCC video he gives a review of the server and by the end he says he loves the server and recommended it to his subscribers. YouTubers with at least 500 -1000 subscribers that upload MCC videos regularly on their channel should receive the Youtube Rank without the bonus Immortal Rank and YouTubers with 10,000 subscribers should receive the bonus Immortal rank that YouTube Rank already provides.
The truth is, if the requirements were lower, then the staff in charge of applications would actually have some choices as to who they want to give that rank to. (A good thing). Whereas right now they are rarely if ever are getting applications for the YouTube rank. -Smashhhh
This is exactly my point, there is almost no-one applying for youtube rank because there just isn't enough people with the requirements that actually apply.
Currently, I only have 5.8k (https://youtube.com/c/retop), and I was really looking forward to the rank, as I had already sent in my application not knowing the req's would be upped to 10k. I think 6k-7k would be a good amount, and not only because that would almost qualify me for the rank, but because it still allows the server to be shown to a decently large audience, but not to small to where they would be pointless.
That would only mean there would be 1 or 2 YouTubers that would meet the requirements. If MCC wants more publicity they need MORE YouTubers that can create content on their server.
The rank is not meant to just be handed out, we can't have 20-30 people wandering around with the permissions of Top rank,
