i used to play on many other servers where donaters would be allowed /nick! i always really enjoyed having that feature and being able to express creativity with colorcodes and what not. not to mention how cute they look. i know its only a cosmetic but i think it would be a fun perk to integrate that i know many people would love. even adding it along with rank upgrades and particle effects in the shop. giving people the option to donate for the command would be great! and i have a feeling a lot of people like myself might be willing to invest. just a thought! - bratphobic
Hiya! This has been discussed several times, but it almost always comes back to 3 things. 1. It would be severely abused, with players creating inappropriate and abusive nicknames. 2. It makes it significantly more difficult for players to report the correct user, whether it be a forum report or chatreport. 3. It would make it significantly more difficult for staff to issue punishments via forum reports. The only way I can see this being implemented is if there was a command to check previous nicknames, if players were unable to change their nickname more than once, staff would need to be able to change a player's nickname, and we would likely need to implement a new rule regarding inappropriate nicknames. With all that said, I loved being able to change my nickname on servers years ago, but I unfortunately don't believe it would be ideal for MCC.
Well, what yall can do is make a thing where as soon as someone makes a nickname, or changes it it automatically gets listed and the original user name is listed into some type of notepad or something that only staff or the owners can see, then you can use the nickname as the user to report someone. And for that first issue, just make a rule about it, I mean you have a rule basically just like that except its for the skin right? So really bam, there is all of your fixes to those issues. I am sure there is someway you can do this.
thank u for the reply! all of those points make a lot of sense to me forsure! but heres some ideas to maybe make it still a possibility? for people using inappropriate /nick’s they can recieve a punishment. as well as getting the /nick removed and or perk removed. yea! like u mentioned maybe having a system to identify people in /nick. like a log of nick’s tied to player name or something like that. or like i mentioned maybe having /nick as an addon in shop for people who want to donate for that perk. much like keys, ranks, etc. just so the people who buy it would be less likely to having inappropriate tags and getting the perk stripped. just some follow up :) - bratphobic
The best way I can see this working would be to implement a few features. 1: Nicknames would always show up in italic so players would be able to tell someone is nicked in the first place. 2: I can think of 2 features to add that would allow players to see someone's actual IGN in the case of reporting. A, /togglenick, Self explanatory but it would remove nicknames for that player and B, Hovering over a user in chat would show the players actual IGN. 3: Chatreport. Chat Reports would now include the player's IGN and nickname. Inappropriate Nicknames would be treated as chat offenses and based on chat rules (For example if they bypass filter then they would be punished for bypassing chat filter and would have there /nick access revoked for the duration of the punishment) 4: Nickname Logs, Add a log that would keep track of the nicknames a player has had in the last 2 weeks. Preferably it would be in alphabetical order. Names the player used more than once in the time frame would show up with an Asterix and a number next to them (For example “Babs *7”) 5: Imitating Players. Players would use nicknames to imitate staff members or other players would be punished with a sev 2 mute. Idk tho. That's just what came to mind. <3
yea! actually all of these make a lot of sense to me and are some great ideas. especially implementing a feature where hovering over a players /nick in chat would show u there actual ign. of course people imitating other players or people using inappropriate /nick’s is bound to happen sadly :/ since a lot of people already like to undermine server rules by using profanity in chat. but yea of course if that is to happen then a punishment is only right, (via chatreport or forums report). regardless i do still think /nick would be an awesome perk to have that i know many people would enjoy! so i’d love to see it possibly added! - bratphobic
it would be kinda useless since like no one plays skywars or sg lmfao, so you would barely ever need to use it since the gamemodes are dead. well i mean every gamemode is dead but idk
yea having /nick doesnt really have anything to do with minigames, they’d most likely be universal across all gamemodes but yea, it’s impossible to not notice the decrease of players but still theres a lot of regulars like myself that are still active and would like to see perks like this put in place. - bratphobic
See, I know yall might not want this but like, its also the little things in servers that make it better even if its little. And all of the problems with it there are always ways to avoid those issues, you just have to use something called "critical thinking". It is very useful in stuff like this and even in real life. I believe that even the tiny little things is what make things even better than a full on huge reset or something ya know?
yeah I dont think adding a /nick will change the server and revive it, bc thats what it seems like ur saying
I'm not saying it's going to be a literal life changing thing, I mean it's something that'll just appeal to people to the server more. I mean imagine a huge Minecraft build, without detail, just the plain big ol' house, you would think it would not be that appealing because its plain and does not have much detail. That is what I am trying to say, the details of things can make things appeal to people more and just make it better. Do you understand what I am trying to say now?
tell me. what gamemodes are you gonna use /nick actually for? you aren't famous, its not like people are gonna target you, you gotta realizedthat people have to implement these type of things and its kind of a waste of time to add /nick if barely anyone is gonna use it
I know many people who would use it, many people. Now yes maybe you won't use it, maybe a lot of people won't use it but I know there are many people that would. And with how little time it would really set the thing up it won't really be that waste of time. And plus, you have to know, you are not everyone, making you not know if barely anyone would use it. You are you, not anyone else, you know you, you don't really know everyone. So like, yea
