Do what the title says. Don't punish for thread bumping. The rule is retarded, just lock the thread if u don't want kids talking. Darenn <333
Hey Flam. The rule exists to keep the "Latest Threads" section as relevant as possible. Without this rule, players could simply reply to a thread from a year ago which has absolutely no relevance to recent events, and push out the actual new threads that may be contributing some interesting feedback. The reason we can't just lock threads automatically after 2 weeks is because players are allowed 1 bump of their post; locking threads automatically would restrict this feature.
While this does look good on paper. This rule should would probably fit well with a server with hypixel because it's a lot more active than MCCentral. I'd like to bet they are some threads that'd bring a bit more life to forums but they just can't be posted on anymore since it hasn't been posted on in over 2 weeks, I would probably increase the length of time before it's considered thread bumping or overall get rid of it since I'd rather have life on the forums than this drought I'm currently seeing.
Hey Flam, My personal preference would be to increase the thread bump duration to 1 month and implement an automatic thread locker plugin. (i.e.: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/auto-lock-threads.7955/) I'm sure the auto-lock plugin can either be configured or modified to lock after the last post or creation timestamp, which would avoid issues where active threads may get locked too early. This would stop any unnecessary warnings for players who do not know about the thread bump timespan limit.
I think that increasing the limit is better and make it lock automatically is indeed a better solution because sometimes it’s easy to forget that the last activity on a thread has been made 2 weeks ago or more. I understand your frustration (dude complaining) but it’s probably gonna change if you talk to admins, but it’s gonna take a while.
Get it done boss man. As essentials said, this type of rule is more suited for larger scale networks, where forums are far more active. I believe altering it is a good idea, aswell as implementing a autolock as you mentioned. Your solution seems like a viable option.
I cannot agree enough. I got a warning yesterday for thread bumping, as I had no idea about it, having a thread automatically lock, would be much easier than issuing warnings for every player, with most of them like me having no idea that was a rule in the first place. I also agree on extending the time, as these fourms aren't that active. Hope to see it become implemented in the future.
i couldnt be bothered reading what you all had to say but i got a strike for agreeing with someones post. i didnt even do nun
Except this is rarely the case, for an example, the punishment message I just got for thread bumping on a thread that's not even that old and is completely still relevant. For example the unplayable PvP situation on CTF that is very clearly a problem and a bug. I don't even think staff replied to said thread. And the funny thing is it's still a problem, so it is relevant lol. I agree with what the other person said to moving it to a month. 14 days is ridiculous because of how slow things get done around here, relevant is subjective lmfao. If no one has fixed the fucking problem it is not irrelevant
it surely is still a problem as i just got punished for thread bump.. i cant even check the link they provide as evidence. Implent Kieran's said plugin to stop this nonsenses of active people on forums.
