i don't know if this has been answered before, but why do sr mods have access to our ips? it seems like a lot of power to give to somebody who isn't an admin.

This has been said countless times. I believe this is because of how the mentor team doesn't make a person a senior moderator until they fully trust them with the abilities. Another reason is because iplookups are used very often when deciding punishments related to IP's, and admins aren't available all the time to look them up.

    Hope this helped

makes sense, but it's easy to insert a system that can differentiate if a person is on the same ip as another account or not without revealing the actual ip of a player. imo they shouldn't have access to our direct ip. a sr moderator could easily ddos or doxx anybody if they leave on bad terms. hasn't happened yet, but it's bound to happen eventually

    Hiya Stiva,

This has been discussed multiple times with one of MCC's main devs voicing his opinion on the matter as well. As per his (KierenBoals) words, "We can not scramble IPs without it completely destroying the point of IP checks"

    Again, as per his example,

Example of a fake players IP history:
    -192.168.100.20
    -192.168.100.25
    -192.168.99.10
    -200.35.29.95
    -192.168.101.55

    VS

Example of a fake players IP history with some sort of encryption:
    -05cdbca9-648e-4e3b-aec0-af0de7488f2d
    -bbe3c2eb-b51e-474b-a3be-08c044aa318e
    -2359696d-fcc6-41c7-90a1-0e1eefa040ed
    -3eede5b6-6441-4609-b5e0-53cb53a3bb2a
    -a771da0a-d03e-49a8-a8b6-0f39d1737dc8

One variation shows similarities, while the other does not.

Edited to add: Senior mods are well trusted members of the staff team. They have spent months/years working up to the rank that they are. The reason sr's have access to player ip's is to aid the staff team with multiple different punishments. Admins simply have too much to do to be available as frequently as we need IP related punishments looked in to.

    Hope this helps =)

Sr Mods. Are highly trusted by the owners, and are mature people to rely on. With this information they can determine bans, and also catch players who are trying to evade their bans. Also consider in the factor that Admins are very busy, so having Sr Mods around to help the community stay clean with IP Banning, helps a lot for both the Admins and us general players playing in a clean environment!
