Welcome to the server <3 I also joined back almost an year ago, for nostalgia and now I'm completely stuck here :D hopefully you enjoy your time here again!
So I recently started playing minecraft with my sister on survival mode (Easy). We have a permanent house, well, sheep pen, wheat field, and oak tree pen, as well as a cave for a basement that my sister discovered while digging a second basement for the house. So far we have 3 major caverns to explore that are close to the house one being the basement (recently found a deeper cavern while mining). I find our biggest issue is getting lost in the caverns and having issues moving too far away from the house looking for more stuff and getting lost. I understand there are signposts in the game to help but often times I feel they aren't enough or I'm not clarifying directions well enough for our future selves. Any suggestions or tips for what people do in their games would help. For more info, we have red stone, I've hit two diamond veins already giving 16 diamonds total but the tools from that are almost all gone, a good amount of iron ore, lapis lazuli, redstone tracks, minecarts, tracks, redstone torches (That has yet to be laid down), ladders, torches, and a good amount of building material. Lastly we've ran into one dungeon so far but it was a huge disappointment as not only was the spawn portal a spider spawn, there weren't any treasure chest but that's where we found our first red stone.
