MCC should change the /chatreport function to include the entire game chat instead of just the reported player's messages. This would make it contextual and could prevent some false mutes and also mute some players who were breaking the rules but weren't reported. Because taking messages out of context doesn't show the full story and in some cases, the person being reported is the person being abused in the chat and they end up getting muted.
I used to be a moderator and I can tell 90% of the times that would be useless, since barely any chatreports lead to false mutes. The only case where I see that as a possibly helpful feature would be when people trick you into breaking a rule. However, all clients have chat logs that can be used for appealing eventual punishments that come from that. And we’re all aware that mcc has priorities and this sounds more of a thing Alex and Jeremy would work in if they had a lot of free time -1 from me
Hey, I totally understand why you think it would be beneficial to incorporate the entire servers chat logs in a chat report. However, it is already very easy to understand the context of a report, and having the entire server chat would make the process of accepting/declining chat reports more enduring.
If you think the context surrounding your message got muted is important it might be helpful to take screenshots of the chat and include it in your appeal to try and get it removed. However, even with context, some words and discussions are probably best left for elsewhere, and still break MCC rules even if the intention was not to offend.
nah bro, if you do it in /msgf you won't get muted for it because only severity 3 offenses are mutable in /msgf, party chat, guild chat, etc. so you can literally be racist in /msgf and get away with it...
I agree that the chat report needs to be contextual. I am currently muted for filter bypass when in reality I was just answering the question. The staff saw the chat report and just thought I was saying words to say them. If he understood the context of the mute, I wouldn't be muted. But at the same time, they don't always need the context. On my last mute, all they needed to know was that I said 3 similar messages in under 12 seconds (I was muted for spam).
This isn't exactly true, even if you are answering a question, if you change a character of a filtered word (or something else similar to the word) you are bypassing the filter and thus are breaking the chat rules. Whether the chat rules should be changed is another question, but I am of the belief that certain words shouldn't be said on a minecraft server even in a discussion or answer to a question, especially slurs and other hurtful language.
To be honest all I'm hearing is the telephone game here. Staff needs to take some time out of their day and explain the rules more because this is confusing. Them explaining this on the website will not help players understand but also make their jobs easier. They need to update the rules and be more specific about what’s allowed in whatever /msg command.
I'm pretty sure asking people to like your comments is a permanent forum point, but I could be wrong lol.
Fixed the post I made, thanks for the little FYI. I didn't know that :o But again I don't understand why people aren't getting muted for encouraging suicide in /msgf. Im pretty sure that is a severity 3 mute, or again it should be.
After reading what everyone else was saying I just don't think it would be a needed thing right now anyways with the input given from the ex staff and current one too.
