♛ Staff Practice Discord - Forum Thread SPD, also known as the Staff Practice Discord is a community/staff run discord, we strive our hardest to make our mentees have the most success they can prior to becoming a Staff Member here at MC-Central. With an astronomical amount of over 250+ members, we have a few things to explain before inviting you into our hands. This is NOT an official MCC discord (community run), you can still get muted if the discord invite is sent in-game/discord. Mentors are Moderator+ who have been invited into the Mentor Team by the Head Mentor. A mentor is someone who guides you with questions weekly/bi-weekly (depends on the mentor) and they answer questions that you have about staff, the server or the application process. MOTM, also known as Mentee of the Month, are Mentees who exceed the monthly expectations and go beyond their requirements. Mentee Applications are in a Google Form, you'll receive the link in #role-claim in the Mentee Discord. Question 2: How do I know if I'm accepted? If you're accepted into the Mentee Program, you'll receive a ping in the Mentee Chat. Then, you'll be asked to join a private mentee discord for said mentor. Question 3: If I don't like a specific mentor but I'm in their timezone, do I have to be with them? It always varies on the situation, yes sometimes that can happen so we'll drop a message in Mentor Chat and ask if they can be switched to another Mentor. Question 4: If I get punished, do I get in trouble? If you get muted and do not notify a Mentor about it, yes. If you continuously get muted as a Mentee, you may have your role removed. If you're banned as a Mentee, depending on the offense, it may be an instant removal from the role. We expect all mentees to act appropriately and professional but if you don't, it's fine. However, we expect the best behavior from you. Question 5: What are Mentee Questions/Interviews? Great Question. Mentee Questions are questions assigned to you (a mentee), and you have a certain amount of time to submit a response either in dms with your mentor or in your assigned personal chat. Mentee Interviews are just voice call questions that you're asked, we treat this as an example of the real interview stage where, if you pass the Applications Stage, you can get into the Interview Stage and you must pass/be confident in order to receive a promotion to Helper. Question 6: Do I need to be active? Requirements were re-added to the SPD. You need to be active with around 1,000 minutes and 10 accepted chatreports monthly. This helps you stay active within the community, even if you're not applying for that month. Question 7: How do I get MOTM (Mentee of the Month)? Mentee of the Month is achieved by the hardest working mentees. Normally we can tell if you're trying "too much" but if you're staying active within the Mentee Program and have amazing stats throughout the server, you may be mentioned for MOTM. Question 8: Say I get promoted to staff half-way into the month, is there a chance I can still get MOTM? Straight answer, no. We want to give it to mentees who are working hard but haven't been promoted yet. If you've been promoted, that's a great job on you but don't let MOTM stop you from applying. Question 9: Say I get MOTM at the beginning of the Month then get promoted, do I keep it? Yes, you do keep it. Most MOTM's have gotten promoted the month following their award of MOTM which gives them a boost of confidence when submitting an application. Question 10: Enough about MOTM, am I allowed to be in the discord as a non-mentee? Yes, you're allowed to be in the discord as a non-mentee. We invite all users to join our discord but if you do break any of the rules, consequences may endour. Question 11: Do I have to be mentee to become a Staff Member? Of course not! The SPD is here to be an assistance in your promotion, we try our best to encourage you to learn more about the server so you can become a great candidate for the Staff Team! Question 12: Why do I need to be apart of the SPD AND Personal Mentee Discord? We recently did an update that involved the removal of all mentee chats so now you need to join the mentors personal discord just to see mentee questions, personal chats, etc. Spoiler: Changelog June 24th, 2020 - Updated FAQ "Do I need to be active?" Hey AnimatedFox! Firstly I’d just like to say what an AMAZING post this is. The effort and detail put in shouldn’t go unnoticed! I just wanted to say to anyone that is thinking about applying for staff the SPD helped me so much! With help from the assistants in the SPD I was extremely prepared for my interview once my application was accepted. The mentors all have there own personal discord where you can ask questions and then apply your knowledge to mentee-questions which are usually posted every week. I highly recommend anyone who is serious and dedicated to become a staff member to join!
I was staff before that discord existed so I guess it's easier to become staff because you learn a little bit of insight about the staff team when you go into the discord, it's good in my opinion, but again I was staff before so I think I can live without joining it, and also I don't plan on re-applying for a while, I don't think the main motive for new players should be to just apply for staff on the server wait a minute.... fox you're not staff !111!11!111!!! ;)
I can say that as soon as I knew I wanted to become a staff member, I joined the staff practice discord. I often get asked ingame about where to start and honestly, coming to this discord is the first step. We are very lucky to have dedicated people who spend large amounts of time making sure the information given in the discord is up to date and preparing candidates for staff and I am thankful for those who got me to where I am now from the practice I was given during my mentee phase. I must say, this is an incredibly detailed post, I'm proud to see someone take the initiative and help give a little incentive to those who want to try to become staff. I am happy to say I have been here for over a year. I can tell you it is a lot of fun and good for experience with the possible staff-to-be you get to work with. The SPD family is a big one and a kind one at that. If you have ever thought of being staff or maybe want to join just to know the server's rounding a bit better, this is the place to be! You will be pushed to meet your fullest potential and make many friends along the way. This family has been growing since April of 2018 and I don't see it stopping any time soon. the spd helped me a lot w learning the rules and such stuff last year. im glad i got the opportunity to become a mentee at one point, and because of the help of their mentors, achieve helper, and even further. i'd defo recommend joining it if you're going for staff
