If you haven't noticed, prison chat is almost 90% advertisements from people running either scripts or plainly advertising twice per chat box.

This thread could either be a suggestion thread to prevent advertisement spamming, or a thread just based on the recognition that the server chat nowadays is terrible.

hey! i agree chat is a little messy on both realms but it’s not like they’re breaking rules as it’s not 3 same messages in a chatbox and due to the pace of prison chat it’s kinda fast so many can come in at a time. and chat macros are allowed.. so...
i’m not quite sure what you mean by prevent it, like, since the activity/pace of chat is semi-fast it’s gonna feel like spamming, but also, as already said, one ad isn’t said all in one chat box 3+ times majorly of the time.
and i think players are aware of how it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

prison is a very grind heavy server where a lot of money comes from server/econ like selling ores and such but also a lot goes back to it when players buy spawners.. having the shops n such is a way for the money to circulate around players. advertisements were going round a lot in other seasons. def, not as annoying as it now, but still going around. whether it be donators asking for money or rookies using “<<<—— L{!}{!}K” kinda thing. but anywyas.

i think some things players can do for it not flood chat is to use laby mod’s double char feature where there’s a second chat box off to the side and you can just filter it for every “/p h” or smth it can go to that chat. not sure how that all works specifically since i never used it and i don’t laby anymore cause ew...

    have a nice day

I get that they're not breaking rules, but most ppl are running console clients that constantly advertise. kinda annoying after a while

You can always use /ignore to blacklist anyone from being in your chat. The console client advertisements are perfectly legal. Hopefully next season there is a new way of making money other than profit shops / sell shops / token shops / PvP shops.

    Have a nice day.

I have ignored so many chat bots recently. It's definitely made the chat quieter.

    Hi there,

While I understand how frustrating it can be to communicate with other players while the chat is constantly spammed, I do not see a viable solution to this problem on the server's side. Players have to advertise in order to make money on prison, it's just the nature of the game mode. MC-Central could create a rule against console clients but this will become a problem for those who use console clients to afk their spawners and will upset a lot of the community. People will still find ways to chatbot without the use of a console client (using scripts/modified clients) so there's really no point. Whilst the spamming rules could be changed to two chat messages, this would also create problems with people who accidentally send messages twice without the intention of spamming chat - I also think this would become far too intensive for staff members to keep up with as a lot of players like to send messages twice.

Consequently, I think the best you can do to avoid the prison chat spam is to either filter out messages with a second chat (using clients such as LabyMod) or simply /ignore all players who you believe are a chatbot (or spam). The sub-server has undoubtedly become worse in terms of chat spam however, I don't believe there is much the network can do to combat this. Prison is one of the largest game modes and as it continues to grow, so will the rate of chat messages.

Have a wonderful rest of your day.

I honestly do not see a downside in the current state of the Prison chat. While I understand that it can be annoying to see the rapidly scrolling, bright bold colors throughout the chat, I don't feel that this negatively impacts the gameplay experience. An alternative to this on the opposite end of the spectrum is the chat on a quieter server like ArenaPvP or Survival. On these subservers, the chat is mainly active when players are having a conversation with one another. I don't necessarily see the Prison or ArenaPvP chats as one being better than another - their activity simply reflects the features of the respective server. As the players above mentioned, there are steps players can take to mitigate their personal annoyances with the chat. However, on a more broad or server-wide scale, I feel that there is no need to add more chat limitations for users who are not breaking the rules.

While i do agree, i also disagree at the same time.
While constant advertising can be very annoying
especially when its from a console client, i do believe
that it opens the community up and allows shops to
thrive furthermore which in tern grows the community.

So while i do agree, i do not believe it should be moderated.
i hope you have a great day ♥

Staff should make chat bots illegal. They could check to see if a user is a chat bot thru chat reports and see the time spacing between each message sent to be able to determine if it is a bot or not. If its the same time spacing between each message in chat then it could be a mute. Players could just chatreport accounts they suspect of being the chat bot/chat script. Just an idea of how it could work.

I guess considering they aren't breaking rules it technically shouldn't be an issue, it's just annoying i do understand that. I miss the days in prison where anyone and everyone was just involved in a convo 24/7! So I personally agree the amount of messages you can send in chat if you are advertising should be lowered, but that would create a lot of confusion. Changing it so you can't get a bot or whatever to automatically send your messages would clear chat out a heap, but would be very un convenient for players who do rely on advertisements. As mentioned for your sake just either mute chat all together, or mute the certain people if you feel like it downplays your experience.
