One of the forum rules prevents Thread Bumping - responding to threads that are 14 or more days old. If this can be added, I feel that it would be best for threads to automatically be locked on the 14th day after their last response. At this point, it would be against the rules for any player to respond to the thread anyways, so auto-locking it would prevent old threads from being brought back up and staff members would not necessarily need to moderate the dates that users are responding to threads.

By simply locking the thread and not archiving or deleting it, players can still link/refer to the post, read the messages, and like any responses. The thread would still be fully accessible to interact with in all ways except replying.

    Heya!

Im a +0.75 on this suggestion. I’d like to see a system where old threads are automatically locked and I do think that it makes the moderators job a little bit easier.

There’s one small issue that I have with this though. As the creator of the thread, you are allowed one free thread bump. If this system were to be implemented, there would need to be a way for the creator of the thread to post on it still.

Overall, this is a decent idea and I hope that it gets considered!

Locking a thread after the 14-day limit would be awesome. Especially if you have sorted the list anything other than most recent - it's a pain to double-check to see if you can type something. Perhaps even a warning at the bottom above the comment box that gives a little warning "This thread is after the 14-day lock limit. You may be flagged for Thread Bumping" or something like that.

    Hey there,
I quite like this idea. Auto locking old threads would definitely help out moderation with needing to lock it themselves. It would also help players without needing to get warning points. It would be nice so players wouldn't have to double and triple check if they were allowed to post a comment on it. Just as Wolfscare said, it would also be nice if they implemented a little warning that warned you if you were about to comment on a post that was 14+ days old.

This is a great idea. Yes, I do see the issue with one free thread bump, but the idea I have is: Lock the thread to the point where only the creator can respond one more time. Once the creator bumps it, then start the 14 day timer again, and after that's up, lock the thread permanently. I could see that there would be a lot of work for staff with this, but I believe it wouldn't be hard to create a code or something that causes it to lock after this point. Overall, great idea.
    Best of luck!

I agree very strongly with this suggestion for the following reasons
Automatically locking threads would remove the need for thread bumping

moderation. I think this should have been implemented from the very beginning.
its very simple to implement and will save staff members a lot of time.

I hope Rev3rse's recommendation will be implemented
