In this video, I obtain some old footage of me playing back in late 2019 minecraft. In those videos, I was using the latest version of Minecraft (which was Minecraft 1.14 at the time) which implemented the newer combat-style to Minecraft. In 2020, I switched back to Minecraft 1.8.9, and I think the results speak for themselves. So, which is better in your opinion? I would say 1.8
I would definitely say 1.8.9 is better for PvP, just for the single fact that there is a swing cooldown on 1.15.2, and there has to be a plugin to take that off, so 1.15.2 isn't as smooth. Great video though, very entertaining.
Hey there Personally as I have been using 1.8 pvp all my life I have gotten used to it and I prefer that. However I will say that 1.15 combat is actually quite fun as it requires more things to think about like blocking with the shield and timing your hits
Hello! As a player that has tried both 1.8 (even 1.7.10) and 1.15 combat pvp I can say that 1.8 is better. In my opinion 1.8 pvp is much more intense, and doesn't last long. Unlike 1.15 which requires more hit timing and strategy, it also last longer due to faster regeneration, weapon cooldown etc. 1.8 pvp has also a lot of game modes that makes the pvp more intense, such as pot pvp, build uhc, and sumo. Both combat systems have their own uniqueness and positive sides, if you're looking for more intense battles and faster reactions then stick to 1.8, if you're looking for a more relaxed pvp that lasts longer, 1.15 combat is a good choice. But as a player who started on fast paced pvp, I couldn't seem to adapt on the 1.15 combat style, which made me stick to 1.8 pvp in the end.
1.15 combat for pvp is horrible. If you want to play any pvp gamemode, 1.8/1.7.10 are the way to go as the combat systems are more suited for pvp in my opinion. Whilst saying that I don't think 1.15 combat is complete without merit. I 100% think that 1.15 combat is superior to 1.8/1.7.10 combat for things like mob killing etc. If you play survival, 1.15 combat is more suited to the needs of that. As someone who plays a lot of 1.15 survival, I can tell you that for a fact. However, just talking on which is better for pvp, 1.8 wins easily.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and answer to the question :D When I switched back to 1.8 I immediately saw improvements. I would seem to get more hits on 1.8 than I would on the newer versions of Minecraft (specifically referring to on MC-Central) And yeah, I think the majority of people like 1.8. Thank you guys for the feedback :D
I completely agree that 1.15 is horrendous for pvp. It has completely different mechanics and is not suited for only pvp purposes. One thing that annoys me with 1.15 users, is that when people are in water in a game of survival games they can swim faster than you because you're on 1.8.
Any 1.8 version has really good reach to hit people. Anything later than 1.9 starts to become harder pvp wise. 1.8 almost is smoother and most servers support it.
Definitely 1.8 pvp, even pve is better in 1.8. The swing delay just removes the intensity from the situation since one is forced to hit in accordance with the delay rather than click as fast as they can to kill the player or mob.
in my opinion and like many others I have always loved 1.8 pvp a lot better then 1.15 pvp. I love the block hitting and everything about it. Once again great video, hope to see more soon!
I always prefer 1.8 over 1.15 it's just up to preference and I enjoy block hitting and getting combos
Hey Firebal, Personally I've been using 1.8 versions ever since I played minecraft and I'm just used to pvping that way as i'm used to clicking very fast. In my opinion, I am not a fan of the new pvp at all. My friends and I recently started playing realm and I'm not used to it at all which makes me not wanna play as Im clicking fast but its only registering a few hits. Love, Floir
Haha I love the creativity with your forum post. I think that it is strange how when the combat update came out that they removed the CPS aspect of pvp.
