Good morning, afternoon or evening to all!
I've brought up a few times the idea of a dropper minigame being introduced to MCC's pool of minigames. I thought I would dedicate a post to it to familiarize some people about how it works and the benefits/opportunities it opens up for the community. Yes, I understand that the server is not in a current position to add minigames as the developers have work to do with revamps and new seasons, however I want to leave this hear for the future.

Dropper maps in minecraft are all about falling down a level while avoiding blocks, in an attempt to reach the bottom without dying to fall damage by exposed blocks floating in the air
Here is a video I recorded on a dropper map recording I just downloaded off a minecraft maps site, to show everyone how this is played (in the most simplistic form):

You can see that on the first jump I successfully landed the water and was allowed to proceed to the next, while on the second one, I died and would have to reattempt that jump until I am successfully able to land without perishing to fall damage. This was a simple singleplayer map, without custom plugins and with basic command blocks. In the server, I imagine once landed into water you would walk to a pressure pad that would teleport you to the next level. You would be racing against other players and the time, to motivate the player to try their best to succeed.

Credits would be awarded per level completed so that people that don't finish the race in time, still would receive credits for their time playing. (If they had atleast completed the first level to prevent AFKing)

Another way to visualize how to play is through this image I created:
    2020-05-11_23.03.37.jpg

    Context:
When I play Murder Mystery I do come across quite a few players that aren't so good at either PVP or building. Murder Mystery provides those players with a simplistic, engaging minigame that can be played easily without having previous knowledge of how to combo someone or how to build a firebreathing dragon.

When I first thought of this concept I realized that this minigame would provide those special bunch of players another chance to play something, something that give them a bit of a rush of adrenaline from knowing you want to beat your friend in that race against the clock. And so, here we are.

    Benefits:
    - Wide range of players can play this gamemode, no knowledge of PVP or building needed. (
    - Engaging and a race, which is something that we don't currently have on the server.
    - Easy to play, hard to master which gives players a grind to reach the top and make record time's which could be recorded onto the leaderboards website.
    - Allows another place for community made maps to be introduced and let players creativity flourish for a new minigame.
    - Theoretically not overly difficult to code.
    - Inclusive and allows for friends to have a laugh while playing.

Like many of my other suggestions, let me know what you think of the addition of this, whether you like it or dislike it. And hopefully through any changes made, when the time is right, we can see the addition of this minigame into the server! :)

    Hey Elecctricc!

First off I'd just like to say wow... I love this visual aids you've used in this suggestion to help those who aren't sure on what the dropper minigame is.

I would personally love to see this implemented into an arcade-like minigame. I think that it might struggle to fill lobbies alone but an arcade would definitely solve that issue. The arcade minigame could involve games like dropper, tnt tag, tnt run, speef, parkour race, simon says and other small games that players can play just to chill out!

    What do you think?

    Hope you're having a good day/night,
    6hb (jake)

    Heya Elecctricc ,

I would love the idea of having a dropper mini-game on mcc as it is something completely different to what the mcc minigames are today!

My question is , Would it be just 1 dropper per go , or would players have to complete 2 or 3 separate droppers to complete the mini game? I ask this as it would make the game last longer and would be more fun for all players.

    - Good Job on coming up with this idea tho :D

    Hi!

I really like this idea. I have played this on other servers and it’s very funny and addicting. I really like the time and effort you’ve put into this because it looks great. I really hope something likes this will happen in the future, it’s very fun!

Howdy! I honestly was thinking about this the other day, and how cool it would be to have it. Kind of like how 6hb said, we could have an arcade type area, with stuff like this, spleef, etc (maybe even a OITC revival :D). Also, I remember being in the lobbly, and when the NPC's are fully loaded, I saw a Luigi skin for it. Maybe that would indicate that we are creating an arcade area/lobby, which would include these minigames that have been mentioned above.

I have to say, my only question is how would players collect credits? Would they collect credits on who finished first, kind of like how Champ. Builder does, or would they collect it for how many times the finish the dropper? But it is ok, because these questions would be answered if they were to be added! Anyways, I really think it would be a great idea.

That's a great idea @6hb ! Would be awesome to see alot of community suggested minigames all put into an arcade like place to play together! :)

Thanks @CoolElla ! Ideally there would be 10 or so dropper maps the player would have to beat to complete the minigame, this will keep the player busy and entertained from the visuals/gameplay !

Thank you @TorontoCanada ! would be awesome to have an arcade area wouldn't it! As if my time on the server wasn't already enough hahaha - for simplistic reasons I would say that after completing a level and moving to the next, credits would be rewarded to the player. This is purely what I vision and in no way represents what devs might do though! :)

    Hiya Elecctricc

I love this suggestion as Dropper is such a fun game to play and master! Specifically, I find this minigame ideal to provide a gamemode that isn't too lengthy and lets players take a quick break from any PvP gamemodes. Overall, really enjoyed your visuals and hope this can one day be brought into the server!

Thanks for the kind words @icybabe ! I agree that there's alot of PVP centered minigames on the server and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just nice to change it up! :)

    Elecctricc!

You always put threads together in such a well-organized way! +1

I love this minigame and think it would be an amazing addition to MCC as I have been going to other servers to play it :(
This minigame is a great way to pass time like you said and requires minimal effort. Since you would just be falling I don't see a way players could hack.

I have a few suggestions. I think it would be nice to have a variety of map difficulty ranked as such

    - Easy
    - Medium
    - Hard

Players would be presented with options to choose from in the lobby and vote on which maps they would like to play.

I think it would also be cool to display the fastest times each map has been completed in, on the leaderboard.

Hey, @Elecctricc I totally agree with you about adding a new mini-game. The reason for this is because I want something new and the other minigames are all fun in all but I get bored with them. I think by having a new minigame I think it will bring new players to MCCentral. I think a dropper minigame sounds like it will be lots of fun. Like @iTristan mention that there should be levels of easy, medium, and hard difficulties of the dropper. Also, there should be a lobby where you can vote for the map and what difficulties you want to play on. I will be more than happy to create some dropper maps for the minigame. Overall it is a +1 for me for the dropper minigame idea and have a wonderful day or night.

    Thank you :innocent:
I actually did overlook the possibility for cheaters in this gamemode however considering how they could only be falling, fly hacks/ no fall damage hacks would theoretically be the only hacks they would use, and it would incredibly easy to determine when they they would use it! So yay! As for the map ranking it would be great to have a set of maps ranked in each of these; for example - The overall vote was ended on Hard mode, and so all 10 maps the players would be playing on, would be of the hard difficulty; maybe a slight credits increase can be awarded for winning on hard mode to motivate players to play it? :)
    Thanks @iTristan !

Thank you! And if we can get some kind of indication that the minigame idea would be taken into consideration by the administrative team then I myself would gladly create some maps for the gamemode! (@6hb you're comin' to build with me this time :smilingimp: hehe)

    Hey Elecctricc!
I really like your new minigame idea! This minigame is different from any other I've ever seen on mcc, maybe it could be considered as an arcade? Having different types of minigames is important to the server because it is definitely going to attract new players to the server. Hopefully this can be added in the future! +1
