With the mute/ban system, it should have a expire time like for the record.. Because I just got muted for 2 days even though I hadn't being muted/banned in the last 2 years. MCCentral should make it so a mute/ban record doesn't count if it's being 6 months or a year since you got it. I don't want to be muted for 7d or 14d next time I slip up or make a mistake..

I typically agree with this post, I feel that if a person has stopped making these types of chat mistakes, their previous mutes that are over x amount of time, (I'd vote for 2 years) shouldn't count towards the "stacking" of the severity chat punishments. However, this also brings up the problem if the player is constantly muted, if their mutes/chat offenses keep getting reset, then this might be abused as they will start over from 30 mins every 2 years, leading to a person that might have an insane mute history, but will only be muted for a short amount of time their next infraction. In addition, the player has been muted in the past for a reason, and is also being muted again for a reason. This would help the player remember not to keep repeating the same mistake. Otherwise, I can't really think of another way this might be abused.

Tl;Dr: This change has pros and cons, it does generally make sense that you shouldn't have to suffer longer mutes because of some things you did 2 years ago, however, the punishments happened for a reason and you being muted again also has a reason. This new rule can also be potentially exploited/abused.

That's where the severity comes in, Half of the mutes are due to severity 1's which aren't that bad... then we move on severity 2 and 2day mute is still severe severity 3... Well, that is perm mute so yeah.

I disagree with this for two reasons. Firstly, you should take your first or second offenses as a warning. If you familiarize yourself with the rules, you’ll be fine. Secondly, just because it’s been a little while since you were punished, what you’ve done never goes away and should not be excused. Interesting idea nonetheless. Have a wonderful day!

I can attest to the fact that some mutes can be ridiculous, but if you feel if you did not deserve to be muted you can always make a punishment appeal found here: https://mccentral.org/community/forums/appeals/

I don't think there should be at some expiration as you'll still guilty to the mute, so it makes no sense to remove it. If anything, given that it's been so long, you should be familiar enough with the rules to the point where you know what you can/can't say.
