Hello! I would like to recommend the idea to add a block counter to the pickaxe/ know how long until it upgrades. I think this will make it a lot easier to know when it will upgrade. Thank You. Please like if you agree :D
Muel brought up the idea to Alex about adding a block counter on the upgradeable pickaxe, but unfortunately it won't be added since the season has already progressed and pickaxes that've been used prior to the block count feature wouldn't have the correct "blocks mined" statistics; it would only record "blocks mined" after the feature is added. It will most likely be added in the following season, but as for now it's a bit too late to implement unless everyone is fine with an incorrect statistic for their pickaxe. There is already a progress bar that tells you how close you are to leveling up your pickaxe. Although it may not specify a percentage, the bar still functions well. I don't see a need to change the display, and if it will be changed, these changes should be made next season. In addition, Muel made this wonderful guide (click here) where you can scroll down to the "Upgradeable Pickaxe" section and find the required amount of blocks needed to mine for each level in order to level your pickaxe up.
