Some of you might have noticed your signature is cut off. This is not a bug, We decreased the size of signatures. Right now the biggest signature you can have is : 265px by 964px. The height is exactly the same as enjin (265px). We will not be adding a scroll bar for signatures.
I can admit I had kind of an obnoxious signature when the forums first started. I think it is a great idea we added this to avoid spam in signatures. Makes the forums look cleaner overall.
Why not just make use of the Collapse signature option in preferences? Now it just cuts off signatures and doesn't give you the option to expand them, regardless of what you set your preference to: Spoiler: Image It cut the text under the image in half and doesn't let me expand or scroll down to read what it says
All together it looks nicer when signatures are the same size. If yours is cut just find a app to edit it and make it to the correct size.
Why not have an option for a scroll bar? Is it because you're using Enjin's maximum signature block height as a reference? I guess I'll adjust mine. But is it too big? Also. users can collapse signatures if they don't want to see them. It's an all or nothing scenario, but it's an option in the Browsing Preferences section of the user options. I'm wondering why this option is here too, but I think it's because how the theme is set up and that it doesn't take advantage at all of "Collapse signature" feature. They'd have to update the theme to support it.
Then make them all the same size, but also don't remove the option to expand them to see bigger signatures. Can't even scroll them either. Just because you want them to all be one size permanently doesn't mean you need to doom the rest of the users to be stuck with this as well.
No one is doomed to be stuck with this. They can edited their signature. Plus most people shouldn't have a issue as its the same size on enjin.
Yes, but like me and anthony mentioned you can't scroll on this one. You're able to scroll down on the signature on Enjin. You literally just cut it off and anything that is over the limit is just completely un-seeable.
The reason to why there is no scroll bar is because it's not aesthetically pleasing and it can be a bit annoying if you accidentally start scrolling the signature instead of the forum post. That was the basis to not having scroll bars in signatures. :)
If that's the issue, then why not just take advantage of XenForo's built-in ability to make signatures collapsible? Then if people had a bigger signatute you could just click to expand it instead of being stuck wondering what lies beyond the rainbow
It also can be aesthetically pleasing for users to have the option to disable signatures altogether if they wish. That's what I would do or tell others to do if they found accidentally scrolling on a signature box was annoying in any way. Look, none of us are trying to turn this into an argument. We just want both sides of this to be addressed and heard. I'm not sure if this has ever been an issue before, but this is the first I've heard of it. There is a perfectly good reason to allow the scroll bar on the signature because that's what it's there for. If aesthetics are really an issue, you can customize the theme's style and make the scroll bar a lot more appealing through CSS customization. I'm just saying there's a way to go about this that isn't too difficult and that can be of compromise both for the admin team and the community.
