Hello, I posted a thread similar to this on the previous website before it was taken down. Here goes! When you kill someone with decent gear in pvp, it feels good. You just got some decent loot. However, usually there are people with nothing who run around the pvp arena watching you fight some stacked person and swoop in to take your loot before you can reorganize your gear. Since /fix is disabled in pvp, I carry 3 sets of diamond armor so if my stuff breaks, I don't die to lack of gear. This means my inventory is super full, so I will get the bad stuff before the good stuff in my inventory when I drop someone more likely than not. This is super annoying since the people with 0 stuff can just take gear and immediately swoop away. This is why we should add loot timers. Loot timers make it so that the person who kills someone (or does the most damage depending on circumstances) gets 10 seconds of time where only they can pick up loot. This means that anyone else who tries to take the loot will get a message saying "You cannot pick up this loot for (1-10) second(s)." This eliminates this problem. I know that Factions and KitPvP use loot timers. Alternatively, any warp you can /warp to (or /is go) could be increased to take 3 seconds of time to travel, therefore eliminating the problem of people instantly warping out of pvp. You make a good point, but I think that loot timers would change the game completely. Wouldn't there be more time for people to swoop in and get ready to take the loot after you kill someone?
No, after the 10 seconds are up, you should have the good gear in your inventory and you can then leave the bad stuff to be taken. Hope this answers the question.
This is already a thing in multiple of the sub-servers. I don't really play skyblock so I'm unsure but I'm almost positive they will add this in upcoming seasons. If you would like to see how this system works try going onto the survival or factions sub server. It could also be implemented on others too but I'm not sure.
hey! i’ve seen this issue on prison, and the whole idea of loot timers n’ such floating around the old forums. i’ve seen other servers implement this where the person who gets the kill can get 10-30 seconds to pick up loot and no one else can. however, for skyblock i don’t think it’d be 100% necessary since skyblock isn’t much of a pvp-based subserver. instead of a loot timer, maybe a “/back” cooldown. like after you die you have to wait about 10-30 seconds or something before using “/back”. ¿ but overall, i don’t see the harm in adding a loot timer... anyways have a nice day. im outa here. pce ~pimposaurus
This idea is a great one and I don't see any issues with adding it. It is completely and incredibly annoying whenever I kill someone and someone snags it up immediately. Only people who are losing out are the people who do this kind of stuff. It is a pretty decent strategy to get some good gear though.
This feature has been a thing that's been on other sub servers for a while now and I honestly find it hard to believe that it hasn't made it's way over to Skyblock already. I'm pretty sure no one would be against this being added as when someone swoops down and yoinks your stuff it's super annoying. Hopefully, this feature will come in at least the next Skyblock reset. +1
i absolutely agree with this due to the fact ive lost mythical and ancient gear to loot stealers I really hope they add this
+1 I played PVP a lot back in the last few seasons and I got to admit, there was a lot of non-armored individuals that stole my loot and /spawn'd. It made me kind of mad, but I got to admit I couldn't do much about it.
I'm a 50/50 on this debate. This is exactly true, skyblock isnt meant to be a sub-server where pvping is a massive part of its gameplay. Skyblock is about farming and being able to create the best island possible. I believe that if you want to pvp you could either join, the factions, kitpvp or arenapvp sub-servers which are fully deticated to pvping. Additionally, you could also do /duel However, I have seen many people be upset with people stealing gear after a kill. Thanks, Olli
You can actually, I went to one of my homes after my timer ran out did /back and was back at /warp pvp
Loot timers should be a part of any PvP environment that is connected to subservers, no doubt. /back has been enabled in the pvp area and from outside of it since forever in skyblock, and it obviously it is not fair. Disabling /back, and adding loot timers (as we have on other subservers) does not seem difficult to do, i am behind this proposition
