My IGN is askholes I was permanently banned for "inappropriate username" ... as people are using ACTUAL profanity much worse than what my name can be interpreted as, in the chat, with no repercussions. A direct message warning, or something other than a permanent ban would've been a little less brutal. According to the Rules Section: Inappropriate/Offensive Username or Skin Having a username or skin that is offensive, inappropriate or racial. Includes usernames that have a blacklisted word in them. Askholes isn't a blacklisted word, offensive or even in my opinion, inappropriate. If anything it's funny. I've already appealed-- made this post because it seems like there is an issue with the moderation system. Crazy.
The problem with this inappropriate username system is that there's no clear system as to what is considered inappropriate, it's based off if the Senior Staff find it inappropriate. Though I can agree that askholes isn't even really inappropriate. There's not even any proof signifying it has any connection to the swear whatsoever. It is literally "ask" and "hole". Not to mention the swear it's hypothetically based off of isn't blacklisted, or even that inappropriate.
The word that this username can be seen to be based off and the plural version of said word, are actually both blacklisted words so i guess you are bypassing a blacklisted word by having your username as 'askholes'. Make sure you have changed your username or else your appeal will be denied. I agree that there should be guidelines possibly set to whether certain usernames can be considered inappropriate or not but, for now, SeniorModerators have a fair idea of what an inappropriate username is so i wouldn't argue. This username is bypassing a blacklisted word so it therefore is actually punishable. Thanks and have a lovely day!
