Recently there may be more then one person doing a chat offence and the 60 second cooldown on the chatreport is just not cutting it. I personally believe that the cooldown should be put too 30 seconds as there may be spambot that you have to wait a whole 60 seconds to chatreport the 2nd one.

    Heyo!

I sort of agree with this. I can see why others might not find a reason as to why there needs to be a cooldown for chat-reports, since many people can be breaking a rule at the same time (such as spam-bot or group spam). The downside I see to this is a person chat-reporting a ton of people for no reason and creating spam for Staff. The "Abuse of /Chatreport" rule would get these people punished, but it would still be irritating to deal with. In the end, I think it should be implemented to a lower time, however I don't think it's enough of a prominent issue to be added soon.

Hope you are having a fantastic day or night!

I agree with both of you guys. I’m pretty sure they made it one minute for a reason. Some people probably spam the command without a reason so I think the one minute cooldown is good. If you can’t report everyone that’s also fine because someone else would have.

hi good sir! i totally understand what you mean! however, i kinda agree with Nestly. it’s not about getting the chatreport, it’s more ‘bout making sure the player gets reported and rightfully punished.
i also get that applying for staff, it’s good to have chatreports when they look at your stats. chatreports isn’t something that’s required for applying staff, it does help and having a higher number helps make you look good... but blah blah blah... i don’t think chatreports are a huge factor n’ like..
the 60s cooldown seems fair to me.

something i did was have time for chat with seconds and a clock with seconds and just countdown from that. and when the 60m passed i’d get ready to do the chatreport command.. if that helps ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If there is a group of spambot saying something in the chat, it would be better to make a report on the forums or call a Sr. Moderator+ to the sub-server to deal with the issue instead of making a chatreport for each individual one. If you chatreport them individually then they'll probably just be punished for spam instead of for being a spambot.

If you're unable to chat report the player, another player will instead. There's no point in decreasing the time just so people can make even more false reports than we already have had in the past.

There were nearly no false reports I came across in my time as staff, and nor did I see many people punished for abusing the CR system, either. I believe by cutting the cooldown time for chatreports and educating the community on how to (and how not to) use the chatreport system would make a marked difference in the server's atmosphere.

One idea I've thought of is when a player is about to be chatreported (let's say I am chatreported for spam), a little message comes up. It reads "are you sure you want to chatreport Zonafer for Spam? type /chatreport confirm if you wish to continue" and a few lines beneath that, "/chatreport is only to be used for chat offences" and "abusing the chatreport system will result in a ban." By doing this, the amount of "hacking" chatreports will be vastly reduced, and fewer players will be banned for chatreport abuse, as a result.

Another solution would be to allow a customized chatreport deny message. If I was to submit a chatreport for someone hacking, and it was denied, I might not understand why that was the case, and will probably persist until someone pulls me aside and explains how the system works, or I get banned. By allowing a custom deny message, staff members will be able to inform a player of why their chatreport was denied, and will be greatly useful in more ways than one. Some examples...
"Your report has been denied by a staff member! Reason: We cannot punish for hacking via /chatreport." or...
"Your report has been denied by a staff member; This is not considered spam, as the messages were spaced out over 5 minutes."

Overall, I am totally on-board with the idea of the chatreport cooldown being reduced. In conjunction with another aid (such as those I have described above), I believe players will be much more likely to use /chatreport responsibly, and chat moderation will be easier, as a result. +1

EDIT: Added some colour to make examples stand out, and made my writing more concise. :)

    Hey Zonafer!

To be honest this is an OK suggestion but to be honest well anyone with common sense will know this.

Chatreports also have a "This Player has Not typed any messages recently" so if you report someone for hacking and they aren't talking then that's already prevented a fair few.

I am pretty sure if a staff saw a chatreport for the reason "Hacking" they would just deny it anyway.

I would have to disagree; it's all too common to see players asking you to /chatreport a hacker or similar rule-breaker in chat, even when it's obviously not the solution. I think this is a really important idea and something that could be very beneficial to the server and its chat moderation.

In all honesty, that's what I did as a staff member; if I saw a report for a player hacking, I would usually deny it. But that doesn't curb the root problem; some people are going to keep chatreporting hackers until they're banned, or even continue after.

I would say this is logical. Even before getting moderator, I know that this was frustrating for sure. I feel like if we added this, people could possible spam the chatreport command more maybe. However if they do, an easy punishment on them will be made. I am a +1 for this.

Actually, this is a REALLY great idea! I love it! 1+

As for the cooldown, sure, it's annoying at times when there are multiple rule-breakers, however, as ImJustAndrew said, there are others players that are willing to chatreport them. And I agree.

    Hey!

I agree with this, although this could create chareport spam for the staff members, but punishments could be made for that. That's a +1 for me.

Yeah, I think that would really help with those spambots coming onto the sub servers spamming virus links. This happens every now and then on prisons.
