    Summary of Skyblock



    SkyBlock is one of Minecraft Central's most popular subserver if not the most popular. This is a casual subserver that involves starting on a small island, and slowly adding to it over time by making farms, shops, public warps, etc. Skyblock also has casual competition for #1 island. Lots of players compete for the top island and others play for fun. Skyblock also has a PvP arena where players can bring their own gear and compete with each other in events such as Boss and Envoy to win rewards. SB resets around every 6 months (like other subservers) in order to refresh the server and add new things.



    New Minecraft Central players have a hard time figuring out what to do in Skyblock when they first start. The most common questions new players ask is how to make money and what is the goal of Skyblock. These questions could be answered in different ways depending on what they are looking for from Skyblock. In the past couple seasons the best method for making money was to farm nether wart with harvest hoes and buy snow golem spawners for passive income. The goal for most long term SB players is to get a high leveled island to try and compete for #1. This is not very clear to New players, and it's often the player community that explains how the game can be played. If It was more clear to new players on how to start Skyblock it could bring in more players and keep them here for longer.



    Old players, or OGs of Skyblock, are people who have played SB for multiple seasons and have a good understanding of the Skyblock lifecycle and how it's changed over the seasons. Most OG Skyblock players know the season eventually dies down and becomes a ghost town when nearing its reset. This is a natural part of every subserver which is why they need to be reset. Spawners were first introduced as the primary way of making money back in season 6 with Iron Golems. Everyone who played Season 7 and 8 knew there were much needed balance changes in order to keep SB alive for longer. Season 10 and 11 did a good Job of balancing spawners so that they didn't kill the economy right away but was still the main way of getting money in the long run. We believe that these balance changes were very important in creating a foundation of skyblock meta, and although it's not perfect, it has been the most balanced system we have seen so far.



    We believe Skyblock has a lot of potential to keep players around for longer. Most active skyblock players compete for the top island and it's what keeps them coming back the next season. There is no secret the player community is not a fan of pay to win. We don’t believe SB’s meta is pay to win because there is still a lot of time you need to put in to compete for the top island, although it definitely gives anyone a big advantage especially right after reset. If SB was less pay to win it would keep much more casual players around each season. Below are some suggestions we believe could make SB more enjoyable for everyone



    Balancing Comp/Economy


    • Beginner Harvest Hoe - Most people know the most OP thing in SB is the upgradable Harvest Hoe that can only be obtained from keys or bought from another player. This is an essential part of every SB team that's looking to make good money and compete for top Island. To even out the playing field give new players a non upgradable Harvest Hoe with base stats. This Hoe would be given to everyone for free in their starter inventory and would be worthless. Its purpose is to give players a decent way to make money so that they can save up for an upgradable harvest hoe from someone else and would introduce players to auto replanting.
    • Make fishing a consistent way to make money before getting an upgradable harvest hoe.


    • Balance Silverfish spawners - In the last two seasons, In order to compete for top island you would need to invest in Silverfish spawners that drop emeralds for emerald blocks. We like this but the amount of blocks needed to be placed compared to money we make is unbalanced. This season the top two teams, (Exodus and Stitch), stopped placing emeralds because it got to the point where buying diamonds straight from the shop was more efficient. Make silverfish drop less emeralds and make them give more levels. Top Island should be the richest team, not who can place the most blocks in 6 months.
    Revamp PvP


    • Change PVP Meta - Less S6/P5 and more potion based PvP (less p2w). People don't want to carry around 7 sets of P5 armor in order to compete with the best PvPers


    • Make PvP a reliable way to get money and compete in getting top Skyblock island - Lots of people only play Skyblock for PvP, and so when the server starts to die, PvP becomes a desert. If PvP were not just an extra thing to do and was a valid way of making Money the player base would stay around much longer.
    • Bring back old bosses that would move around - Giant prisoner is a snooze fest and people only do it for event keys. Bosses would stay in the normal PvP arena instead of teleporting players to a separate one like the old boss. This way people can still use whatever gear they want.
    • Add Loot pigs/Loot Bats that randomly spawn in PvP and drop money/items when killed. Only player who got last hit can pick up items


    • New Events - Koth/King of the Hill/LMS
    • Balance Envoys. Make 15 chests drop instead of 30 and have the loot be better. There is a better forum post specifically talking about envoys that recently came out.
    • Make events more common - If events happened more frequently, there’d be more players excited to do them. We've Noticed that many players join Skyblock, preparing for the upcoming events
    • Get rid of grass and flowers in PvP, can get in the way of your hits, and lag can get excessive
    Quality of Life Changes


    • Coin flip Cooldown - Either cooldown on all coin flips or cooldowns on doing coin flips with the same people. - This would make it harder for people to manipulate the coinflip system, and although its a randomized system, players have found ways to always profit from cf.
    • Get rid of the max amount of money you can coinflip. During late season people have more money than they know what to do with. The Current limit for coin flips is 100 mil. People want to coinflip more but maybe anything above 100 mil has a higher fee above 10%
    • Add a Legacy Hall. Feature the top/winning islands from past seasons so all players can see. Maybe a hallway extension in the middle of Hall of Fame room.
    • Balance Log - Can show the last 10 or so people that you have paid or paid you.


    • Coin flip Log - Can show the last 10 or so coin flips that you have played.


    • Bounty Log- Can show the last 10 or so Bounties that you have put on people, or people have put on you.
    • Be able to purchase “Your Skull” From /hs for more money than a regular skull is (should be easy, as it is a feature on Prison)
    • Custom /is tags - Possibly colored tags or Special Tags for Members who currently are on top 1-3 Islands

    New Items/Perks/Blocks/Island Upgrades


    • Possibly a Perk/Island Upgrade called Void Chest - it makes anything that falls into the void go into a chest that you could access with a command such as /vc or /vchest


    • Explosive Shovel - self explanatory


    • Quests that actually serve a purpose, perhaps unlocking island tags, music, or upgrades instead of giving small rewards.


    • Reduce the price of Mob Statues. It is a great item but $250,000 can seem excessive, especially since the item gives you no advantage at all.

    Island Perms


    • Making a 4th rank for island teams - We currently have Member Officer and Leader as main island roles. If a 4th role such as Co leader was added, this could allow for multiple people to own the belongings on the island. Of course it's up to the island leader to decide whether or not they want to add a Co Leader but having the option for one could be useful for teams with lots of people.
    • Perms to allow Members to access shop chests so they can refill/take island shops.


    • Perms for people to Use/not use explosive tools to help prevent major griefing
    End Summary


    Skyblock has come a long way over the years, but It can always be improved. If Anyone has any suggestions for next season PLEASE comment down below, we want as many suggestions as possible.

    Island perms- can definitely agree add a 4th rank.
    New perms- this would spice things up so that would be great.

    I too love skyblock I haven't played it as much as you or other users but I know a little bit about it and would like to give my input on the idea's you presented in this thread.

    Alright firstly your idea's with the beginner harvest hoe I like the idea of giving everyone a harvest hoe to start out but I feel that they should make it possible to get a harvest hoe without having to buy keys because I feel it may get difficult to even buy harvest hoe's off AH sometimes during the beginning of the map.

    PVP

    Next PVP I feel pvp should not be focused on too much the point of skyblock is to make an island and grind your way up to the top not pvp your way to the top but I feel pvp is a fun aspect in skyblock so all I'm going to say is I definitely think pvp should be made so it's not about who has the most god apples or sets to last the longest.

    Quality of Life
    I don't like an idea of a coinflip cooldown I don't see a need for this to be added so I disagree with adding this. However, I do agree with getting rid of the max CF amount not really sure why a max limit would be needed. All the log commands/options that you put are decent ideas but shouldn't be a priority and if anything should be added later but Alex should focus on other ideas more than these. The skull system will more than likely be added I don't see why not as said it's in prison. Also IS tags sound cool but not sure if you mean they pop up on the tab or before your name when running around or in chat. If they appear in chat I don't like this idea as it could make chat hectic which is something I don't like or others.

    New items or ideas etc.

    I think all of the ideas you put here would be fine to be added but would like to discuss the void chest in my opinion it should be able to be unlocked via is unlocks for an island. However, when you unlock it you're able to upgrade it by percents for example the first upgrade goes to 10% etc. Instead of it being a 100% chance that the item comes back and I don't think a void chest would be needed for this plugin just make it pop back into the user's inventory if it works.

    Lastly to finish off with the island perms and adding Co-Leader I don't see a reason why every other system's have Co-Leader now why not add it to ranks in skyblock including guilds getting the Co-Leader rank now.

    Another Idea that I would add PvP, is to fix the bug where you can throw poison potions on the platform at /warp pvp, and push people into the arena. they should make it like kitpvp spawn, where you cant throw potions.

    We actually prefer things to be on the forums.
    If written on Discord, it gets lost within minutes. Forums gives us a place to look back on in a structured way to see what peoples oppinions are on things.

    Heya ehoeian and other fellow skyblock players!

    First I want to say that this is an amazing thread, and it's very important to have some major changes in skyblock. Currently the biggest focus is on the minigames revamp, but at least I personally would rather wait for proper changes for the next season rather than just have it quickly resetted.

    I want to share my opinions on the player base, and about the stuff that I feel like makes the skyblock as you said, a ghost town for the last months. The biggest issue is the placing and competing to be at the is top. As you mentioned, how the island levels currently works are way too much time consuming, and no one simply has the patience to place emerald blocks day after day. This would need a major fix, ie. a new spawner with ridiculous price that drops high level diamonds etc. The first 2 months of skyblock is fun, you get to build the island with friends, grind and farm to get spawners (in last 2 seasons snow golems) and what not. Then it just kinda goes to the placing state, which is just very boring to be honest. There isn't a much to do than placing levels and maybe building your island for the rest of the season, and we would need new activities to keep the players interested.

    HARVEST HOES & FISHING
    Your idea of the starter harvest hoe is amazing. For the new players, it's simply almost impossible to compete against the ones that opens a lot of keys at the beginning of the season. If you happen to start the season after few weeks, the price of the harvest hoes are already in the clouds, and it's extremely hard to get millions to buy one. Also some other crop the netherwart as the best crop could be taken into consideration.
    I also love fishing, and it would be fun to see an increase of the prices with fish that you can sell to the shop. Also it would be fun to make fishing even bigger part of the meta, it's very relaxing and you could take a break from farming to go fish for a bit. I'm not sure how big issues this would bring with players starting to use auto fishing, but I think it would be as big threat as auto farming currently, so not that extreme. new item idea for fishing below

    PVP
    I personally only enjoy the PVP in skyblock, and I agree that PVP would need some upgrading. More different events, since the events are always exciting and gives us more activities to do in the subserver. I'm neutral on switching the PVP to more about the potions, but if this would be changed the drop rate for P5 and S6 gear from keys would need to go down since those wouldn't be that needed anymore. The envoys would need to hold better loot, and your idea of loot pigs/bats sounds fun! +1 on also removing grass and other plants, and I'd also like to see a bit smaller map without hills etc on the way.
    What I would like to add, is a cool down on teleporting away from the PVP area. There is too many players using /warp pvp macros to warp out after opening the envoy chests. This has frustrated many players, me included, as you are supposed to fight for the chests. If players wouldn't like to have the ie. 3 seconds cool down to warp out normally, this could be a thing only during the envoys do decrease the use of macros.

    QUALITY OF LIFE CHANGES

    Good additions, nothing to add on the first 6 ones. On the skull thing this would be easy add, and would also reduce account grinding. Lot of players wants each others skulls, and sometimes you have to kill them multiple times to obtain one which can cause issues with account grinding rule. Also about custom /is tags, I feel like these should be available to everyone to form their own teams the same way as in Prison. The limit for the players for same tags could be ie. 30. Even tho I liked the island tags added last season that you can obtain with tokens, this would seem a bit more fun feature.

    NEW ITEMS ETC
    The void thing - This could be upgradeable to the island, so many people accidentally drops harvest hoes and what not to the void, and that for understandable reasons cause frustration. I would not add this as a perk that is obtained from the keys, as I don't think it is that valuable perk.
    Explosive shovels - +1
    Quests - I like the quests we have now, but the rewards should be better. Ie. since dragon eggs are only obtainable from the quests, they should hold higher level when placed to the island. This would get people to do more quests, and also lift the egg's value.
    Mob statues - Eh, at some point most of the players have unnecessary amount of money so I'm neutral whether the price is too high or not.

    ITEMS I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST
    Block wand - This idea I saw originally from Sweatydreamer. Basically like a sell wand, but it would block automatically the items in the chests. This could make the /block command a bit unnecessary, so I'm unsure other player's thoughts about this one.

    Upgradeable fishing pole - You could upgrade it regarding to how much fish you get, better fish would give more XP to the upgrading. You can already insert lure, luck of the sea etc with enchant table, but this one you could upgrade beyond what etable is capable of. And maybe some additional features like treasure hunter, tropical fish luck etc. The pole could be obtained from ancient/myth keys. If the purpose of fishing would be upgraded to better, this could be fun addition.

    Apple pickers (from voting keys) - Same item as in prison, as the method to obtain apples now is from the villagers which can be time consuming. Also not many new players have the knowledge to deal with the villagers, nor have the money to buy the apples from the /ah. Apple pickers wouldn't possibly be that wanted item, so that's why I wouldn't put them as a loot from ancient/myth keys.

    I'd also like to see a bit more strict rules to some parts. As probably everyone that has played skyblock even for one season, has noticed that there has always been the cases of insiding, griefing, clocking grinders, stealing profit etc. Every case is unique and should be dealt with as their own cases, but somehow I feel like a lot of people sabotaging the enemy islands gets away with too little. Ie. in cases of scripting spawners, the spawners should be completely taken away, in the situation of insiding/griefing ridiculous amount of something, would get you longer ban. I feel like there is a different severity on stealing one spawner than well, crazy amount of levels in example. A bit hard to get rules changed, but well a girl can hope!

    ISLAND PERMISSIONS
    4th rank - This would be useful, as you can grant more permissions to the players that you absolutely trust.
    Chestshop perms - YES! This should be a permission that you can manage from /is perms. It's extremely difficult to manage with chestshops in big teams, if only one player has access to them.
    Perms for explosive items - I don't see any issue with this being added, so +1 from me. There could be also added a new permission to these, as that you can't mine ores (emerald, diamond, sponges etc) without the permission. Different from the permission on mining valuable items.

    Summa summarum as we say in here, I'm very excited to see what upgrades and new stuff the next season will hold! Skyblock is my ultimate favorite subserver, and I'm looking forward to the next season. Mostly we require new activities, to prevent the server from dying on the last 3 months of the season. And as I said in the beginning, I'd rather take the skyblock reset to take few extra months than it being rushed. So no stress to the owners and developers on how quickly the reset should arrive
