    Hiya folks,

    Let’s talk about forum reports.

Firstly, since there is no other way to report hackers (other than the discord which most players dont know about), you have to report they via forums, and its pretty painful.
You have to record, upload and unlist Footage of the cheater on YouTube and then create a report which includes the hacker’s often annoying to remember gibberish name.

So after all that effort, you might at least expect that your report has gotten a hacker banned.
    Well, unfortunately, thats very unlikely.

Reports on average take 12-24+ hours to even be viewed by a staff member, which leads me to believe that
    a) the reports team is overworked and needs more staff on it
    b) forums reports are neglected

What do I personally believe? A bit of both, and here’s why:

Most hackers/cheaters in minigames are reported by the players who are active on the MCC discord and report the hackers’ IGN in #support, where a staff member will then spec and ban the hacker. Also, except for a few times of the day, there will usually be a staff member online in the minigames banning the hackers.

What this means is that most, if not all hackers that you report on the forums have already been banned.
This could explain/give evidence as to why forum reports are neglected; they are relatively pointless.
I have also had discussions with members of the reports team who say they do struggle to keep on top of the reports.

So, in conclusion, forum reports are not only tedious, but usually amount to nothing and are pointless.
In this thread I have discussed the flaws of MCC’s forum report system, and I would like to know what you guys think about them.

    Hey!

Reports are not pointless. I and few other Moderators normally get top reports, around 900-1000 per month. We ban A LOT of hackers, not all of them are already banned. Also, not all of them are hacking reports; we have gameplay, chat, and miscellaneous reports. (Also, not all of the hacker reports are Skywars hackers, don't forget closet cheaters). The Reports Team has a set of requirements to complete monthly so it cannot exceed over a certain amount of members and reports do get done ASAP. If a report takes time, it normally means the team is discussing it for more opinions.

You also should probably state a solution if you think the reports system is flawed; all you did was complain about it and gave no feedback whatsoever.

Thank you for taking your time to writing this formal thread. I totally agree with you on this topic of matter and I am considering applying as a staff member. I think that the solution to this problem is recruiting more staff members to the team. However, it is understandable that the support team is required to carefully pick out the correct candidates to handle such a work task since it otherwise can lead to consequences. Although, many positive things would be brought with having an expanded staff team and that would be the player experience. I have read previous threads about players quitting due to the amount of hackers that there are on this server currently. In conclusion I therefore believe that making investigations about where most of the hackers usually go to and then decide how many staff members are going to patrol those games and specifically recruiting staff members from different timezones so that there always are someone that is available to answer the reports and take action shortly after. Thank you for reading this and have a nice day!

Hey olo, reporting is a lot of work and may seem like a hassle, but there are ways to get around it being just boring and pointless. Personally, I like to upload the video while I am playing, and then when I am about to get off, I have all youtube links ready to submit and even if it is 15 reports I have to do, it only takes me about 5 minutes. Most of the time, yes, the hacker has already been banned, but sometimes they may have toggled one time and you were lucky enough to catch it as they knew they were going to start getting spectated. This makes reporting an essential part of making MCC a better server.

Regarding what you say about a bigger staff team; this wouldn't work as we see more and more moderators/helpers getting promoted to the point of which they can ban players. However, you still see the same amount of hackers every day or more. The staff does a great job cleaning as fast as they can, but it still takes time. The best solution I see is to get an anti-cheat. Many players have mentioned it before and there are lots of threads about it, but even if only stops blatant hackers, it would still be banning the majority of hackers on MCC. This would also prevent the time-zone issue of little to no staff being on at a time.

I believe what you say is correct and I dare to state that most hackers spend their time in games of short duration that is to say the minigames. I suppose that the staff would be able to help the legitimate players who grind in the games that has seasons and where you have to grind in order to become good. They would there be able to help the players there instead of having to constantly look around the minigames for hackers there. Thank you for your feedback!

Hey Benz, i am talking about normal hacker reports when I say 12-24+. I know what you mean about how its not just hackers that get reported, however they are the vast majority, and 90% of them at least have already been banned. Yes, I did not offer a solution, this thread was solely to complain, however, I will give some ideas:
    1. Implement a watchdog report in game system
    2. Set up something on the forums so that you will be unable to report a player that has already been reported/ banned, similarly to being unable to /chatreport someone who’s already been reported. This will relieve a lot of the pressure on staff as I believe this will reduce their workload by over 50% and eliminate the “pointless” reports on the same player. A flaw with this idea is that a player who reports a hacker first may not have good enough evidence, while the next does, however i believe the concept is alright.
    3. Recruit more bloody reports team staff. This is a MUST.
    4. Oh, and get an anticheat :/

I think that you are right, the staff or MCC is overloaded with reports and I don't think this thread is about blaming the staff but more about trying to find solutions to this problem. The only solution that comes to mind for me is to make it easier for people to get in the staff team. I would like to help the staff but seeing all the requirements to becoming a helper is in my opinion impressive and scaring.
Also, I had a question about chat reports, how does the staff look at them and decides if the player reported needs to get a mute or not, for example, my last chatreport was on someone saying blacklisted words and it got denied. I am trying to understand how the chatreports works because even if he had done something "illegal" it got denied.
Again I'm not trying to blame anyone, I'm just trying to understand the game better.

    Hey!

ChatReports save the last 10 minutes of the player's chat history; it's literally a text file of their messages within the last ten minutes.
If the CR was denied that means nothing was deemed punishable from the logs or not enough context was seen. (Feel free to PM me more about this if you have concerns)

Overall, the requirements are not hard at all and can be completed in less than a month with dedication. The requirements are set to ensure you are educated on the rules and will have no problem enforcing them. They are also a way to get more involved within the community, which is important before becoming a staff member.
