Survival Version Poll

Ever since the update to 1.12.2, Survival has become insanely laggy and hard to play, even on 1.12.2. The best move would definitely be to rollback to 1.8, as it would attract more players.

 

howdy hey hey! as much as i would like 1.8 version to return, i feel like some of the compromises for taking away spawners and fly was. updating to 1.12 w/ end cities and elytras. I feel like with the more broad variety of blocks in 1.12 makes survival different from most subservers. I wouldn't go as far to say that 1.12 ruined survival, but for sure was quite a change that made it different, I also wouldn't say it made survival better, but survival also needed a slight of a change to prevent so much afk and grind, it centralizes on quests more.
I think a compromise that could be made is to make 1.8 less laggy. like the creative subserver, where it's 1.12 backedned but still playerable in 1.8.

i am -1 on reverting back to 1.8 since players have adjusted to the 1.12 features whether they like it or not :fluoushed: and changing back w/o elytras or fly could be a pain in the rear to deal w/ even with enderpearls, it'd still be kinda annoying. although that point is more of a slice of life preference, i don't see spawners or fly being readded so elytras are the better alternative and reverting back to 1.8 could change all that

I’m an advent player on the Survival server and let me say: I absolutely love the new update. It would truly be a shame if it went back to 1.8. There is now access to elytras, shulkers, concrete, parrots, and so much more. It’s meant to be a survival server; there needs to be progression. I know it makes pvp a bit more of a challenge— but for the people who don’t grind pvp it’s such a great time. If there was a way to just make the pvp warp just 1.8 that would be awesome. For me, personally, it hasn’t been as laggy as past seasons (then again, I had a crappy pc back then). Honestly, I hope that the server continues updating the version of the survival server- can you imagine the 1.16 update?! That is just my thoughts though; I’d like to hear your opinions as well :D

I think this 1.12 update is one of the best parts of season 7. In fact, for a game mode like Survival, the more up to date it is, the better it is. At the same time, rolling back at 1.8, which is a version that's more than 5 years old, will make it harder for new players to get used to. I"ve seen many new players asking in chat about different glitches they had which were results of playing on a very new version of the game. One of the common ones is the fishing rod glitch. This is not surprising since even 1.12 is already almost 3 years old. For many new players, it is natural to join the server on the version they are currently playing on, if it's supported.

Updating the server to a very new version doesn't seem practical as of now, since the new versions are laggier and are less stable. With that said, I believe staying on 1.12 is better than rolling back to 1.8. I've given detailed reasons in another post, and I will quote it here:

"In fact, I believe this 1.12 update is one of the best parts of season 7. It introduced many new features to explore, especially the end cities. With the addition of elytra, the server is finally able to get rid of the ability to use /fly in the resources world, which made the gameplay more like vanilla survival. At the same time, with the new blocks added to the game, there are more and better building options. As long as you can get the materials needed, you can build something that is as fancy as the builds in creative. Most importantly, this makes the game itself less monotone. Minecraft 1.8 came out in September 2014, and that was more than 5 years ago. Is it really fun to play the exact same thing for 5 years or even longer? Other subservers probably face this issue as well, but they can update the gameplay to spice it up and make something new out of it. However, one of the key features that makes Survival uniques is how close it is to the vanilla Minecraft survival, which means there isn't as much freedom to change it compared to other subservers. An update was much needed, and it made survival popular for a while. Survival 7.0 had many players when it first came out. The player count was higher than the last few months of season 6. 1.9+ PvP is probably not the best, but with all the new features that come with the 1.12 update, the tradeoff is worth it.

What's actually behind all the issues that make Survival 7.0 less popular is that the game mode is not mature. The game got updated to 1.2, but the way it is played or expected to be played was still strongly influenced by the old 1.8 design. There are "conflicts" between the new features and the rank abilities, for example. There are also unsolved issues introduced by the PvP change and the removal of spawners. Next season should be a lot better if these key issues can be addressed effectively. Overall, season 7.0 isn't perfect, but it is a good start and provides a nice transition."

I think what really needs to be done to make Survival better is to redesign parts of the gameplay to make it fit for the new version. Changes are needed for perks, rank abilities, and items abilities. At the same time, the frequent lag backs while playing on 1.8 should be worked on to make the gaming experience smoother.

I have been playing surivival for 3 years now, and honestly, i tend to like the newer versions because of the newer features. 1.15 would be ALOT to add, so i think 1.14 would be fun. also the people who want 1.8.9 and below are just the pvp kids that cant pvp on 1.12. survival is not about pvp.

As someone who has been playing since the earlier seasons, I think updating the versions would be great (Slowly per season to ease into things)as more players who tend to play just for Gameplay since there's more things to do in each version. I just personally think Survival would be more exciting and fun as it goes on with the newer changes since you can do so much - 1.8.9 has it's limitations the only thing is that it's good for is it's PvP but honestly Survival PVP has been dead since season 5.

I vote 1.8 pvp but 1.12 items, and allowing fly in resource world would be a nice benifit.

 

for the first bit, i have played a server where it was like this about a year ago. granted, it was not very successful but that was for different reasons. i think if his compromise is possible for mcc, that would be p cool.
as for the fly in resource world,! think if we’re gonna be having 1.12 items (elytras) fly wouldn’t be necessary to be added back.i don’t see it getting added back ever actually
