Hey, As a fairly OG survival player (season 1-2) I have watched survival grow and become what it is now. I am sad to see that very little people play survival nowadays when I use to come home to at least 150 players actively talking and having a good time. Ever since the idea of the subserver being updated to 1.13+ people started to quit and move on with the idea that survival would no longer be fun. I was one of these many people. I believe that since 1.13+ was introduced to mcc survival many (if not all) of the pvpers have quit and moved onto other subservers or have given up with mcc fullstop. The pvp part of survival would keep the survival community alive and I believe that for next reset survival should be returned to 1.8.9 in hopes to revive the server that now only has around 50 regular players. Although a hard or somewhat stupid suggestion maybe in order to keep the players who are enjoying/prefer the update to 1.13+ happy and also bring back some old players you can find a way to combine the two and have main world as 1.13+ and the pvp arena set to 1.8.9.
Hi Jointer, Survival is currently on 1.12, and this update was introduced in season 7 (this season). I didn't join the Survival community until season 5 so I'm not sure how it was like back in season 1 and season 2. From what I know, this season has fewer players compared to season 6, but the reason behind this change is not the update. This season has roughly the same amount of players as season 5, which was also in 1.8. Season 6 has more players for many reasons, and the top 2 reasons I can think of are summer/winter breaks and a more mature game mode. Overall, season 7 might be less popular for some reason, but it is not because of the update. Like many other subservers, Survival also has a PvP community, but it is not nearly as big as the ones on other subservers. The recent version update affected some players, and changing game versions back and forth can be a little inconvenient, but for many survival players, this change didn't make much of a difference because many players on Survival were playing on 1.12+ before the update. In fact, I believe this 1.12 update is one of the best parts of season 7. It introduced many new features to explore, especially the end cities. With the addition of elytra, the server is finally able to get rid of the ability to use /fly in the resources world, which made the gameplay more like vanilla survival. At the same time, with the new blocks added to the game, there are more and better building options. As long as you can get the materials needed, you can build something that is as fancy as the builds in creative. Most importantly, this makes the game itself less monotone. Minecraft 1.8 came out in September 2014, and that was more than 5 years ago. Is it really fun to play the exact same thing for 5 years or even longer? Other subservers probably face this issue as well, but they can update the gameplay to spice it up and make something new out of it. However, one of the key features that makes Survival uniques is how close it is to the vanilla Minecraft survival, which means there isn't as much freedom to change it compared to other subservers. An update was much needed, and it made survival popular for a while. Survival 7.0 had many players when it first came out. The player count was higher than the last few months of season 6. 1.9+ PvP is probably not the best, but with all the new features that come with the 1.12 update, the tradeoff is worth it. What's actually behind all the issues that make Survival 7.0 less popular is that the game mode is not mature. The game got updated to 1.2, but the way it is played or expected to be played was still strongly influenced by the old 1.8 design. There are "conflicts" between the new features and the rank abilities, for example. There are also unsolved issues introduced by the PvP change and the removal of spawners. Next season should be a lot better if these key issues can be addressed effectively. Overall, season 7.0 isn't perfect, but it is a good start and provides a nice transition. For the idea of having main world as 1.13+ and the PVP arena set to 1.8.9, I''m not sure how that's going to work out. Currently, if you play Survival on 1.8, you will get lagged back a lot, and the gameplay is not smooth. You also won't be able to see or interact with the new blocks properly. On the other hand, if you play 1.12 on a 1.8 server, then your PvP is still on 1.12. This sounds more like a compromise and if it is actually implemented, players would need to switch between different versions whenever they want to start or stop PvPing, if they want the best experience. Here are my thoughts, and have a good day or night.
Hello Jointer, I remember playing season one, with my friends! I honestly miss the old days of Survival, since there were so many og and active players at that time! I know a lot of og players had moved on from the Survival server and it is so sad to see that. I like the suggestion you made, because I believe PvP is not as good on Survival as it once was! There may be a pluggin out there, that can make 1.12 PvP into 1.8.9 PvP, which would honestly be perfect for the server to be honest. However, it would be completely up to Alex and Vislo. Have a nice day or night! -Lauran (Composures)
Hey AZXG, I have seen you around and I know you are more of a grinder than a pvper and therefore you know more than me when it comes to actually playing and grinding money etc on survival. I know survival season 7 started off with a huge number of players but that dropped very quickly after a couple of days. I believe that pvp livened up the community as we would always have team fights of up to 10 people in pvp fighting at once (almost everyday). I recently logged on and talked to some of my OG friends who all said that they missed being able to warp to pvp and watch us fight or watch us converse in chat whilst doing so, they said it brought some action to the subserver. I understand that it would be impossible to make the change back to 1.8.9 completely because people are just settling into the 1.12 play style. Maybe I'm wrong and this season is just a warm up for survivals big change and maybe next season will have a larger player base and be more successful. I have noticed the frequent lag backs whilst in 1.8.9 on survival (I never log in on 1.12+ because it usually resets all of my keybinds etc). If there was a way to work round the issue then maybe that could be included for next reset so that it allows players who main 1.8.9 to play without any problem. Thank you for your response
